Sorry to see it go
I've played this course many times over the years. It was never in very good shape but the price was right and the layout is fun, if you keep it in the fairway. The new owners made some improvements but jacked the prices way up. It got to the point where you could play far better courses for nearly the same price. The course was packed all summer due to the coronavirus, like other courses. If the owners couldn't make it with packed play and jacked up prices, they were never going to make it. That said, this course closing will leave a hole in golf availability in the moderate price range.
Course closing 11/01, Never really got to great shape
This course is the closest course to my home but I rarely played under the current ownership. They would at times get the course playable and staff was very helpful. I just always got the feeling they were temporary. I was right. This course is closing for good. Nursing School bought property 3 years ago. They put a little money in the course but I'm guessing never made a long term commitment to it. I noticed the responses to bad review here seem to be canned. One read "Hope we can meet your expectations next visit" That was dated 10 days before permanent closure and after it was announced. Why would they respond at all, has to be a bot.
Course layout was fairly good for new golfers and enough interesting holes for more advanced. Just never got it in top tier shape. RIP Woodford Lakes.

Great Course, Terrible Pace, Poor Golf Etiquette
The golf course itself was great, greens were nice and staff was friendly. However, the pace of play was absolutely terrible. We were held back so long that We could go back and play the previous hole TWICE and still have to wait. On every hole. To the point where we just ended up leaving After 10 holes because it was so frustrating.

With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. Must keep it in the fairway
The course is lined with lots of trees so you have to keep it in the fairway or you'll be pitching out sideways all day.
Great fairways
This course has been steady and reliable this year. My only complaint is that the greens are deteriorating quickly. Fairways and tee boxes are in great shape, some of the best in the area, but the greens are getting bald patches and getting mowed slightly unevenly, which is leading to bouncing putts and putting on dirty. Not great. Fix that and this is an amazing course. There is great value here. There are a couple of spots where I would, to make it even better, add a few fairway bunkers, but that is maybe me being a bit picky. Great local course, though.
First time
I enjoyed the course up to the point where the fairways where getting watered and so did I. If you want to water the fairways that’s fine just don’t have players playing it. I wasn’t happy getting wet. But I will be back and hopefully they won’t be watering them when we are playing
Not a 36$ course
If you are in the Lexington area you might as well play griffin gate right down the road for that price. Overall woodford lakes is an okay course but when you pay $40 for a public course the greens shouldn’t look worse than the par 3 course Meadowbrook

Trees Lined Fairways
The fairways are nicely shaped by trees along both sides. Fairways are a little hard and greens spotty in some places. Overall fun course at a good price
Great course and great staff!
Course is in great shape and the tournament we had was great! The golf pro is super gracious and even though he lost he definitely loses with dignity! Definitely will be back!
