Nice layout, good condition
I play a lot of golf on Fairfax County courses but had avoided Greendale due to poor reviews I’d seen online. I played there yesterday for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! Course conditions were excellent and the layout is fun. I liked it a lot and will return.
Nice staff/bad course
I like the location, and the staff was wonderful. But the course condition was pretty bad. The greens were terrible. I only ended up playing 9 (paid for 18), but after seeing the front, didn't want to chance walking the back in hopes that the conditions would improve. I played 3 or so years ago, and now I remember why I never think to play here more often. Sad, because the people who run the course are super nice.
I hate Greendale
Greendale is a joke. The tee boxes are dirt, the greens are tragic looking, the staff are pathetic gatekeepers of a dying golf course. Save your money, go elsewhere.
I hate this place.
This place is atrocious. The staff is obnoxious. They favor regulars who pretend to own the course. The green look to have leprosy. The tee boxes are mostly dirt. The staff is obsessed with pace of play. Also, crazy price to play such a garbage course.
Fine for a muni
Course had just been aerated, so wouldn’t be fair to judge fairways and greens. Course is fun, but definitely narrow. Many overhanging trees were able to reach out and grab or deflect my ball. 😁
Terrible Greens
I have played Greendale over 50 times and the condition of the greens yesterday was the worse I’ve ever experienced. All 18 greens were atrocious!
Not worth the price
For the state of this course, it should be priced as a cheaper round and further discounted from there. We went last year post heat wave, so the condition was excusable, I thought. Nope. Burnt, lumpy greens invested with hornets burrowed in the ground, fairways nearly indistinguishable from the rough, disorganized pro shop, no range, no cups on putting green. Do yourself a favor and drive a little further for a cheaper course or a similarly priced one in much, MUCH better shape.
Falling apart
The conditions of the greens are the worst I have ever played in the DMV area. From the dead spots to the insect infestation made putting extremely painful. We had an early tee time and it still took 4 hours to play and waited a bunch of holes. So disappointing.
Decent Course for the Price
Nice track, solid fairways, but the teeboxes and greens were in bad shape. Lots of divot issues on the greens (repair your divots) and spotty greens.
Below average and overpriced
The only reason to play this course is proximity. It is overpriced for the conditions (greens and tee boxes are a mess) the grass is not regularly cut well (lose balls in the first rough next to the fairway). I like the course layout but this is not a nice course.
Biggest changes this year are the new practice bays (still no range) and some of the work to cut down trees on #6.
Greens were in pretty good condition, definitely much improved.
Course is still a bit overgrown, but it gets a little better every time I play.
Big Rain on 18
Do not play the longest tees when you hit the ball in the woods all day. Course was in good shape and so were the greens .
