Greendale Golf Course

If you enjoy putting on greens that are like LEGO blocks, this is the course for you. Sixth hole is closed with no obvious notice when booking and no make-up for the lost hole. Fairways and tee boxes are trash. This course should just close until it is made playable again. Staff was also indifferent to these shameful course conditions.

They put a lot of work restoring the course last season for nothing. They completely stopped carring about the greens. Let these murder Hornets take over the greens with holes everywhere. The Rangers couldn’t care less about the conditions or pace of play. When asked are they gonna do anything, met with idk and shrugs. The best par three on the course, front 9, is under construction so this is a 17 hole course.

Sand traps have foot tall grass growing, some greens have "drilling" wasps, recent aeration created ruts in numerous greens, hole six has been closed for more than one year. Course needs serious attention.

Greens were a bit rough as they had been aerated recenty. Not horrible, but not smooth either. Fairways and tee boxes were in good condition. They do a nice job with pace of play. We were never held up on a single hole, nor were we holding anyone else up.

Great value, good design, undergoing renovations that will make it much better.

Greens are the worst I’ve ever played on. Bunkers are infested with grass/weeds and could be fixed with a simple roundup treatment. No driving range. Just a poorly maintained course but consistent with most Fairfax-run establishments. It’s an easy, quick option to play golf but that’s about it.

The course needed a lot more care. Bunkers were neglected for awhile since tall weeds have grown within all of them. I was not informed the greens were aerated and slit-trenched. Many greens were also infested with insects burrowing holes into them.

Several of the greens - at least 5 - were absolutely infested with cicada killers. They had dug numerous holes creating bumps and other uneven ground suitable for putting. Aside from that, trying to putt with dozens of stinging insects buzzing around is hardly pleasant or allows for an enjoyable time. The course needs to be closed until these are eradicated and the greens repaired. I am quite surprised that no one alerted me to these conditions, but even more surprised that they have remained unaddressed, because these things did not do all this damage overnight.

I definitely won't play here again - there are just too many other nice courses, even for the price I paid.

Enjoyed playing there, but needs some maintenance in some areas with one hole closed. However, the price was reduced which made it worth the value.

There’s a lot to love here. There’s a bit of construction ongoing, but the course has improved a lot this season. Solid pace of play (though I did get the sunrise tee time, so your mileage may vary)

This is a local public course in suburban Fairfax County that has been improved recently and regraded. It needed it, and since they have done it I move it to the good category. Amenities are sparse, does not have a range, only nets, a small shop and you can get a hot dog or sandwiches. Still, it has some water hazards and interesting holes.

The Greendale greens keeping staff has done a great job improving the conditions of this course. Greens are in great shape and the fairways are in good shape. Rough is grown up and pretty thick. Tee boxes are also in good shape especially given that this public course that gets a lot of play. Clubhouse staff is very friendly and always helpful.

Only issue was a couple foursomes that were ahead of us were slow and taking a lot of extra shots. Marshall did come out to try to address this.

I enjoyed playing this course. It was challenging in length without being punitive. The fairways could have been cut closer. The fairways were narrow and tree lined.
