Staff and course conditions
The staff there is overly strict. Jeanie might be the most annoying starter I’ve dealt with. She has that fake nice, big attitude vibe. I’ve had to deal with her and her BS twice now. I wish she would say and do less.
The course is consistently wet and swampy. They need to put more rocks or grass down and cut some trees. Whoever is in charge of water irrigation plans and landscaping is clearly bad at their job.
If they hired some nicer people and a better groundskeeper there is potential to be had. A challenging course with good distances. But it needs serious work. Won’t be going back there with the other, better options in the area.
Rookie Golfer. Great Experience.
Nice course and great staff. Only played the front 9, but was manageable for a rookie (6months) and challenge bough for more experienced players. Will def be back.
Golf now Vs. walk-in
I’ve reserved through Golf now & paid in full. When I checked in, the staff have said that the carts not included when I purchased through Golf now.
So I had pay separately for the carts, I’ve thought that everything was included.
Next time I wouldn’t reserve tee-time with them. I rather golf other courses where the green-fee & cart is combined.
Pace of Play & Price
Pace of play was extremely slow due to carts staying on cart path. Foursome playing in front of us took too long to play each hole, which caused backup in our play & the groups behind us. We weren’t able to complete our round before dark.
Price was more than the course price. Twilight rates (tee times after 2 PM) at the course are $8 cheaper per person than using the GolfNow app to book tee time.
Avoid at all costs
I first want to say that I have played this course many times, it is an easy, accessible, cheap course. But this place is just going downhill. Our tee time was at 3pm on Saturday and it took almost 3 hours to play 9 holes. Marshall was there but doing nothing to push the pace of play.
In addition to this they course was in VERY bad shape. They even had a hole closed for repairs. If i were you I would pony up the extra $$$ and go play somewhere else.
Greendale is not worth it.
Ready set terrible
I would put this course in top 10 worse muni courses in Virginia. First off the pace of play here is the worst I’ve ever seen, it took me 2 and half hours just to get through 9 holes. Next you have the tee boxes which look like they haven’t had grass on them in years. Then you got the fairways that your either playing out of 6 inches of grass or there is no grass at all. Greens never rolled clearly. Literally have places with no grass on the greens. Fairfax county should cut there loses and sell the land to housing developers cause unless they plan on fixing the whole place there is no reason anyone should spend any money on this course.
Terrible Greens
Greens were banged up. Could not even play 14th hole because it was so overgrown/bare. Very inconsistent.
Fairways in decent shape, Tee boxes were overgrown and not mowed. I liked the course layout as it was my first time playing here.
Maintenance lapse
Tee boxes not mowed. Never any sand in push carts for divots. Cannot speak for power carts. Hole closed not mentioned on golf now.com. In over 10 years of playing course never any request by starter or pro shop to repair divots...greens could use that help.
Worth 10 bucks to play here
The condition of the tee boxes and greens are terrible. Bunkers are awful. The roughs are awful. 14th hole is closed.
Good Muni Course
Everything you could expect from a muni with the following exceptions:
-Some greens and tee boxes were a little bare of grass
-Skinny fairways
-Fairways in exceptional condition
Jim
Booked on tee off and found I only saved 1$ per golfer! I didn’t notice it was for walking so had to pay extra 18$ per person, not per cart! I have been using Tee off for years and this is the first time this has happened. I will definitely have to be more careful next time.
