National Golf Club

This used to be Tantallon Country Club, A private country club built in the mid 1960s. It is now called the National Golf Club and is a semi private facility. On the day I played, the tees had not been cut and the greens were very slow, but in decent shape. The club is in the process of putting sand in the bunkers so the front nine has sand, but the back nine doesn’t. I paid $60 through Golf Now and do not consider that price to be a good value, although the round was enjoyable.

Nice old school layout. OB and or water on most every hole. Not a long course but you must be accurate. Greens were slow but in good condition. Greens don’t have much undulation in them.

Course has an excellent design. If the overall condition was vastly improved I would play it again. I play several courses in Va and one in MD. They cost a lot more but I do not mind paying when they have great condition. Handicap is 16 and play 1 to 2 times per week.

Played for the first time and would play again. The greens were a bit slow which is understandable given the rain, but in decent condition. Nice layout, but play with someone who knows the course so they can help with places to hit to and what missed to avoid. Pace of play was awesome as we got in 18 holes in under 3 hours and avoided the oncoming rain. Good value at $75 on the app.

Wonderful course with holes that will make you use every club in your bag. Only negative is the green on the long par 5 on the back nine has some issues and needs to be reworked (mold? Blight? Something killed some of the grass). Enough elevation changes to keep it interesting and no gimmickry holes. The kind of course where local knowledge is definitely helpful but enjoyable to play regardless.

Overall, the course condition reflects the price paid and looks a little run down. Greens were fine. Sandtraps should be called dirt traps, Fairways could use some fertilizer and weed killer. Staff was very friendly except the mower guy who tried to run us over a couple of times and would not wait for us to pass while cutting the fairways.

Driving south for a NC golf trip, decided to play a round in the area after picking up a friend. Private Club, on line photos looked good and they had a “Member For A Day” rate.

Course was in poor condition. Couldn’t tell if you were in the fairway or rough because there was clover everywhere. Tee boxes were in rough shape and the greens were hard and had been recently aerated .

Course in good condition but the greens were just aerated.Fun day lots of wind.

The fairways, bunkers and greens were bad. It wasn't worth the greens fees we paid.

Can’t believe I spent $70 on a weekday to play on this course dead grass everywhere. They should only charge about $25 for his course.

This is one of the nicest courses in the area. It’s challenging and fun.

I took my first golf lesson here with Terry Schaffer that I booked off Groupon. 3 years later I see it's opened through GolfNow. I figured I'd book and check it out. After two days of hard rain the course was saturated with water. But I can definitely see coming back to play when conditions are better. Some terrific holes on this course. Challenging due to the narrowness and close proximity to houses. Thankfully I didn't break any windows. Holes 15 and 16 are awesome!

The golf carts were in poor condition. Ripped seats, dirty. In this day and age there should be computer screens showing yardage and hazards such as water. There were so many leaves on the fairways that we couldn’t find balls. I have played public courses that were way better than here. The cost should have been half. Understand why they allow non members tee times. Not many members to keep the place open.
