Swan Point Yacht & Country Club
About
Situated along the shores of the Potomac River in southern Maryland, Swan Point Country Club has been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in the state. Golfers who enjoy playing in the Carolinas will feel right at home on this course. Water or marshland comes into play on 12 holes and there is an abundance of pine trees. The course is also home to a variety of wildlife including osprey, bald eagles, and deer. In addition to the water, strategically placed bunkers add another challenging element to the golf course. The par-5 fourth hole is considered the signature, mostly due to the challenging island green. Proper club selection is key in order to maneuver past the lake that runs along the entire left side of the fairway. The hole is especially hard on windy days.

Excellent Golf Course!
This was my first time playing Swan Point in 3 yrs and I was very pleased with the course conditions and value. The DC area has been experiencing a lot of rain so the fairways were a little wet and the greens just a bit "bumpy" but not bad for Janaury. I will definitely be back when the weather warms up in the spring!
This course is by far one of the best and most beautiful courses I’ve ever played. It has the layout of a professional course while still being a course the average joe can do well on. Unfortunately it had rained the night before so the fairways were not even playable in some places. The greens were immaculate. 10/10 would recommend when the weather conditions are good
Myrtle Beach In Maryland
Always A Great Course: Worth the drive, its the Closest You Can Get To Myrtle Beach in Maryland. Course is away from Home and traffic. Its Beautiful, Peaceful, and Serene . The Green Fees are always a Good deal, Good Practice facility and the Resteraunt is not Bad . The Locker Room is Great For freshening Up before a Long Drive home.
Ignorant Golfers
I want to start this off by saying this course is a lot of fun to play and in great shape. But, the last few times I have played here the pace of play has been atrocious. This year I have yet to play all eighteen holes. Today I skipped three holes to get around foursomes that were taking 27 minutes ( I timed one of them) to finish hitting their second shots. There was a Marshall driving around but he failed to speed the groups up. The slow groups at this course will also not let you pass. I do not recommend this course unless you want to play a six hour round of golf.
Low country golf an hour away
Course reminds you of playing in South Carolina low country. Greens and fairways are in immaculate condition. Well worth the hour or so drive to southern Maryland. Wind can’t be rough on a few holes.
Best course in Southern MD for the money
This place is first rate when the weather is good. I played with my son after work and it was awesome. The greens are in great shape and the fairways are excellent. The only weakness was the traps were a little packed from the previous rain. I wish I could play here everyday. Staff was friendly and helpful too. Ill be back!!!!!
First time back in years...
.....and it won't be my last. I've played many rounds @ Swan Point but hadn't been here in 4+ years. Last time I played it the course was in decent shape, but not worth the drive with better options out there. Played yesterday 5/19 and the course was in wonderful shape for this time of year, pace of play was excellent and the staff was friendly and attentive. Fairways were great, greens quick'ish and are coming in nicely. I will make it a point to make Swan Point part of my regular rotation for sure. Give it a shot! Challenging but fair from the tips.
Worth the drive
Take the extra time and drive down to Swan Point. Reminds one of a low country course in South Carolina. Great value and skip the 95 or 66 weekend traffic.
Best value in the DMV!
Very challenging layout...course is a little spongy because of the rain and proximity to the bay. Overall, a competitive track with good greens.
Greens making a comeback!
Greens had recently taken a beating with this summers weather and were almost unplayable. Was ecstatic to see them coming back on this trip down to southern MD. Course was CPO due to continued wet conditions and while greens were a bit bumpy, they were worlds better. Fairways still in great shape considering amount of rain lately.
Swan Point on Veterans Day 2018
My first time playing this course, my friend had talked about this course for the past 4 or 5 years. Really nice layout, plenty of water, so hooks and slices will cost you heavily. I plan on going back when it's warm. Friendly staff.
nice course but not when its wet
I like the layout at Swan Point but the course needs some serious renovation. After it rains (and we have had a lot of rain the last few days) much of the course becomes simply way too wet to play. One is constantly moving one's golf ball to try and find some spot that is at least a little bit dry and not too muddy. They really should think about elevating much of the course so that it drains better than it now does.
Course is shot for this year
How unfortunate. This is/was a great course. Most of the greens are probably shot for the year. Probably too much rain and not enough sun have caused great bald spots on many of the greens. It would have been nice for the starter to at least mention the aeration and bad putting surface but he never did. Sure, you can't beat mother nature but at least let folks know the condition of the greens.
Lost Season
Swan Point is my normal "go to" course especially when you can get it on a great hot deal. Unfortunately, the course was never in top condition for the entire season. The tees are terrible and 85% of the greens are just as bad.
I don't know what has changed at Swan Point but the conditions are just terrible. I find it very odd that the course would spend money on renovating the pro shop while the course wastes away. Last time I checked customers don't play golf in the shop.
Very poor conditions - greens are gone
They have lost most of the greens here as of Sept 2018. Putting on bumpy dirt and sand is no fun. Fire the superintendent, close the place down and replace the greens.
Swan Point delivers great golf
First time playing Swan Point. Chose to play it on a hot deal, MAN WAS IT WORTH IT!!!
Course had excellent fairways and tee boxes. Very green and well manicured. Traps had nice light sand. Course was cart path only because of rain earlier in the week which is totally understandable.
GOLF WAS SUPERB!
Amenities was well below par!
Only negatives for the course were no cart girls, midcourse snack shack was closed, and the bar was closed after our round at 6:30.
