Swan Point Yacht & Country Club
About
Situated along the shores of the Potomac River in southern Maryland, Swan Point Country Club has been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in the state. Golfers who enjoy playing in the Carolinas will feel right at home on this course. Water or marshland comes into play on 12 holes and there is an abundance of pine trees. The course is also home to a variety of wildlife including osprey, bald eagles, and deer. In addition to the water, strategically placed bunkers add another challenging element to the golf course. The par-5 fourth hole is considered the signature, mostly due to the challenging island green. Proper club selection is key in order to maneuver past the lake that runs along the entire left side of the fairway. The hole is especially hard on windy days.

Good course layout
Course has a good layout and greens are in good condition at this time of the year. Only problem I had was a foursome in front of us (us 2 people) was waiting for them but no one in front of them. Looks like they were playing for money and was taking their good ol time. We skip one hole to get it in front of them and we finished in a reasonable time. Must have been members with no etiquette about playing. But overall it was an enjoyeable round.
Fun and fast to play.
I played the back tees and was a great layout. Reminded me of low country golf in a place like Hilton head. Greens were firm rolled well. I would play it again. It is off the beaten path right on the Potomac river.
High Tide
Challenging as always. Course was in reasonably good condition for the end of summer.
Beautiful view tough layout
Course is recovering well after a real hot month.
Awesome experience!
The golf course is wonderful and the views are nice! I love playing there again!
Best course in the southern Md area
This is an outstanding golf course and team that up with the fantastic staff and outstanding clubhouse food, and you'll get a great outing! This is the best course in the southern Maryland area! Very challenging, fairways are like some courses greens! Staff go out of their way to treat you great and make you want to return! Worth every penny but when you get a good deal from Golf.com, jump on it!
Nothing calm about this Swan!
I've played this course before,. It's in excellent shape and the staff is super friendly. The time of day made the difference as I cruised through 18 holes in under three hours. However, the layout makes you bring the A game as this course will make you pay if you let down your guard at any time. Beautiful course, but don't let the beauty deceive you. Think about every shot as this this help you avoid the doubles and others, and aid in your scoring well. Thanks Swan Point!!
A bit of Carolina in Southern MD.
Swan Point is a hike for me and my golf buddies, but we make it a point to play it once a year. The course reminds you of some courses in North Carolina with the tall pines and marshland. The course is always in excellent shape and the staff is second to none when it comes to customer service. My only gripe with Swan Point is that its so far, but so worth the drive. Keep up the great work.
Best course in Southern Maryland, hands down.
Best value. I played here to days straight. Staff is friendly and customer oriented.
Wow Swan Point is going down hill
We have played here too many times to count. This has always been our favorite course in Maryland. We were at shocked at the extremely poor condition of the entire golf course. One green had two sand pot holes. Fairways had a lot of area with no grass. The landscaping was not maintained. Every green was in poor shape. Very sad to see this happening here.
Insanely good rate for this course
Have played several time before but never under Golf Now reservation. Got insanely good rate for mid-day (yeah I know its hot ...drink more water!!) Played with two others who eventually let me jump ahead of them as a single. Group in front of me let me play thru and it was "off-to the races" as course was wide open in front of them. Finished 18 in just under 2.5 hrs with a stop at the turn for food. Pace allowed me to post a GOOD score for me at this location. Green were very quick as they have just been punched.
Great layout
Friendly staff. Always a great experience playing Swan Point. Can't wait for Spring aeration to get behind us. Come on warm weather!
Nice course
The reason for average course condition rating is because Bermuda grass has not yet grown in for the season. Once it greens up course is usually in great shape. Being the first real nice weather day of the season didn't help the pace of play but I expected a crowded course
Players Course
Course is in fantastic shape, will definitely make an effort to play the course again during the Fall/Winter season.
Long drive, but will be back!
I have been wanting to play this course for a long time, but I live 2 hours from here, so I had to pick a day when I could block out 9 hours. The course was worth the drive. Bermuda was not quite dormant yet, and the feel of the place was very beachy. Largely flat, but with some raised greens and beautiful watery vistas. Very well designed to be challenging without being frustrating. Water comes into play frequently but there was always a side where you could bail out or avoid it by laying up. The greens were exceptional and rolled the truest of any I have played all year. Quick, but not ridiculously so, with undulations which required a proper read. But if you got the speed right putts tracked very precisely. We didn't putt well this day, but it was never the fault of 'clown's mouth' design, if you know what I mean. We will be back in Spring, if not sooner, to enjoy the course a second time.
My favorite course!
It's a long way to go for golf from Alexandria, VA, but totally worth it if you have a whole day.
Everything about this place is amazing!
The Graceful Swan
Returned to play The Swan after 6 days from my previous visit, it was like being at a private country club, no one in front us and no one behind us (happy wife) course was in excellent shape, staff remembered us from the last visit and made feel like we were member's or special guest. We felt the rate was a steal for this caliber of a course. We took our out of town guest from Denver, he's still raving about the course. You Da man Robbie.
Great Condition
Our tee time was in the middle of a tournement, Robbie and his staff gave us a rain check. Thanks for that, my wife loves this course and would like to be a member if it wasn't so far from where we live. The Swan was in the better shape than some of the so called up scale course north of Swan Point. Wife can't wait to play it again. Robbie thanks again for your excellent customer service.
DCtrip
Excellent condition; lots of water, of course; greens held well and putted smoothly. It was hot and very humid so not many people golfing.
