Eastmoreland Golf Course

About
Eastmoreland Golf Course was laid out in 1917 by National Amateur Champion, H. Chandlar Egan. Today, Eastmoreland is ranked by Golf Digest among the top public courses in the country. Eastmoreland is as beautiful as it is challenging, bordered in part by Portland’s Rhododendron Gardens and Crystal Springs Lake. The environment provides a home for thousands of birds including great blue herons, mallards, wood ducks and more. The tree-lined fairways are beautiful year round and the natural hazards such as ravines, streams and lakes require the best from any golfer.

Traps need additional sand
Been playing this course for 40 years.
It has always been average at best.
City run public courses are going downhill.
Classic municipal course
It’s has an interesting layout. Not maintained very well. Just needs a lot of love. It’s August and the greens are soft and wet, not firm and fast. I imagine it’s horrendous in the winter. Lots of geese, poop. 💩 it’s a muni, priced fairly for what it is, has a range, and practice green. It’s cool, but you won’t mistake it for a country club.
Ragged but Right
Beautiful challenging golf course at a reasonable price and good practice facilities. Like most heavily played courses some worn spots and poor pace of play.
What a mess
Layout is great. Greens were great. Tee boxes are a mess. Chewed up and tees, broken and otherwise, everywhere. Goose poop all over the fairways. You had to watch every step.
MM Review
Great city course. The only real issue with this course is the number of geese that rrequent about 4 or 5 holes leaving behind their wonderful offerings for your ball or shoe to find.
Fun track, just not in great condition
Eastmoreland has always been fun to play because it seems like every hole is different. Staff is friendly and vibe there is good.
However it is in rough shape and the greens were very slow. The tee boxes are ratty and it looks like something is killing the grass in many places. Hopefully it is temporary and will recover.
Great challenge
Fairways are dry, I struggle with iron shots on hard, dry surfaces especially 100yds or less.
Good muni.
The course was a little dry and overplayed but still a good value. I highly recommend it (as I’m sure others do) which adds to it being overplayed. I always enjoy the course and this round was no exception. Good professional staff as well.
Muni fun!
For a course that gets this much play, it’s in great shape. Fairways are short and watered so it’s only hard pan far off the greens. The greens were slower than I expected but they are trying to keep them vibrant and alive this time of the year so I think they water a lot.
Great club house and golf course!
Everything was ok.
Different Green speeds maid it hard to judge the Putts.
Everything else was ok. Like the Course and it‘s Layout.
Course in great shape!
I love Eastmoreland, great, fun layout that is challenging but not unfair. Course was in great shape, greens rolling nicely and fairways lush. Good time to play!
Big disappointment from years ago
I used to play this course in High School 48 years ago. It was well maintained back then. I live in Bend now and wanted to reminisce so I played last week. Tee boxes were in bad shape. Mowing was happening right next to us early in morning on 1st nine. Grass would stick to ball each shot and it was hard to find balls covered in long grass clippings. Clover was also prevalent and blackberries on 1st nine by tracks. Had to use colored balls just to find. Bath room on 1st floor needs upgrade also. Not the same course I remember from 48 years ago.
