About
Nestled in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains about 15 minutes from Fredricksburg, Glade Valley Golf Club has been selected as a top-100 golf course in the Mid-Atlantic region by Washington Golf Monthly. The Jim Reck design, which opened in 1990, has a nice mix of woods, water, natural habitat and sand traps that will test golfers, but the golf course isn't overly difficult.

Looking forward to playing again
While not a difficult layout, on account there are many holes that are adjacent to each other with a lightly lined tree boundary , if you have a wild slice, there is an opportunity to maybe save a one-putt par. That said , I shot a 92, a far cry from my 80 just a few days ago at the Links of Gettysburg which is not a forgiving course if your game is off. My game was a struggle with my mid-irons mainly.
The course conditions are very good ( Tee box/fairway , Sand-traps & Greens) and I will be back soon to improve on this round . Two very short Par 4's have a super-tight narrow shot off the tee-box. In my opinion , these holes need to have the trees trimmed back. The first Par 3 is a bear with a big hazard in the front right center and the slope of the green coming back steeply towards the tee box. The course is very much worth a play and friendly to having some miss-hits shots , but there are a few holes that will inflate your score if you are having a bad day.

Great Course, Slow Play
I love the course layout and the facilities in general. The pace of play is almost always a problem here. It took us 5 1/2 hours to finish out round. We were waiting for no less than 8 minutes on every tee box. There was a group of 6 in front of us playing at a snails pace. Aside from that, it’s a fun course that is difficult enough to keep it interesting but easy enough that a beginner can have fun.

Best value in Maryland!
I’ve been playing Glade Valley for years. The course has character that reminds me of courses I’ve played in New England. The course is not long but provides challenges with tree lined fairways along with a couple holes close to water hazards. The course is in great shape currently and the price is well below the price you would pay at a public course.

It’s okay
I thought for the price it was worth driving from Baltimore, but it was pretty backed up throughout the day. Didn’t think it was in great shape, greens were spotty and there were random ladders and tractors on the holes. I dunno, worth $30 I suppose

A great day to play golf. There was plenty of sun shine. The course was in good shape. Pace of play was ok. Good value for the money.

Kicked off 2 hours before sunset
Staff was incredibly rude and they came out on to the course to tell us we had to leave 2 hours before sunset. Not even close to being dark. Do not go there. Do not support this ignorant behavior.

Good Time
This was our first outing of the year. The weather was very good. The staff were friendly. The course needed a bit of work, but overall was good. The pace was at little slow. We had a good time. We will be back.

Glade Valley - Sunflower Seed Shells
The course was in good shape considering that winter is officially changing to spring. The greens were a little rough as they were just aerated and sanded them. There was very little rough as the grass is just beginning to grow, which is good for me. There was ¾ inches of rain overnight so it was cart path only which slowed the play.
The biggest problem was some jerk decided it is okay to spit their sunflower seed shells all over the greens. Especially with the coronavirus, flu and cold season; I don’t need their germs. Please have some common courtesy and use your common sense.

First round in 2020
Mid-March and course not yet operating at full capacity. 1st impression upon entering clubhouse was how clean it smelled. Staff told us they were concentrating on that given current CV concerns.
Course recently plugged and overseeded so it was cart path only. NP as it was not busy Several areas were GUR.
Friendly staff, all electric carts, and even in early season was able to get beverages and dogs at the turn.
Played here many times over the past 3 years and recommend it for a fun outing.
