great course, worth the dirve.
This course is in great shape, tee to greens. Challenges you to make shots, greens can be tricky if not careful a 3 putt is easy to come by.
Beautiful course with a little extra
I had a beautiful day of golf on this course with two exceptions. Upon arriving and seeing only 6 cars in the parking lot I was assured I would have no problem getting out. The guy in the pro-shop quickly asked me if I had a tee-time. I said no, he said I should, I then stated from looking online the sheet was open for most of the morning, he agreed, but stated it is always best to call ahead of time to get a tee-time. Ok. Not sure why, but maybe this is why the place was empty. The course played well, the greens seemed fast from my memory (been over 20-years since I played there). On course it was fun and challenging. Except the 12th hole. You couldn't stop a ball on the green and the hole was in the upper back part of the green. Two of the greens keepers stood around and watched as I rolled 6 balls up to the hole, and right back off the green. Two of the balls actually hit the flag but didn't go in. It wasn't even funny, there is NOT way to play this hole as is. Beyond what seemed like wicked crazy fast greens the course was in good shape and it played well. On a side note, none of the bunkers have been raked in weeks and playing out of them not a lot of fun. Overall a good round of golf, I might just have to try it again soon.
Safari Review of Chicopee CC
As usual, the course was in great and I am glad to see. the greens were a little quicker than usual - being a good thing.
I would rate the course one of the better values in western mass
Great golf day at Chicopee CC
I grew up inn the city, playing dozens of rounds over the years. I can honesty write I have not seen the course in better shape that it is this season. Part of it may be this year's moderate summer, but I believe most of the very nice playing condition is due to the relatively new grounds crew, IGM. (International Golf Maintenance) There is evidence of recent aerating of the greens, but the grass plants bounced back and the greens nice and smooth, with moderate speed. Fairways look well kept and I forgot that the course has asphalt cart paths that were completed some years ago. The Geoffrey Cornish designed layout has been popular with many golfers who live out of town, for a very good reason - price. By today's daily fee averages, Chicopee CC remains one of the best value golf experiences in the greater Pioneer Valley. I had such a great day enjoying the course, I am seriously thinking of buying a weekday pass, for the 2018 season. My only gripe is the bar / "restaurant" does NOT compete well in price or offerings. A minor gripe, since I don't go to a golf course to eat. If you have not played this course yet, you should, while the fall weather allows for some scenic and very enjoyable play.
Great course, good shape.
This course has been in good shape all year. Played several times and still like it. It is a good challenge and worth the ride.
Will enjoy playing again!
Played here with the Safari Club. Course condition was very good although the rough was a little long. A bit challenging with a nice layout. This wasn't the first time playing the course and will definitely return.
best in western ma.
Great coarse for the money, greens great shape also fairways great shape as always. has a starter always on time.
Great municipal course
Played the course with other Safari Club members. Course in super shape from Tee to green. Need to keep it in the fairway since rough is thick and difficult to recover from.
Safari Club Outing
Safari Club outing. The course is in good shape for a public course. And it has been since it first opened in the 1960s. The rough is a bit high but easy to get out of it. Grate layout but a bit changeling. Quick greens. A must play.
Safari trip
One of my favorite loal courses Conditions were outstanding a great value for your money with both the Green fees/cart and the food..
Booked online Mon. 10/2 for a Wed. 10/4 12:27 tee time, once again when booking were not informed of aeration that took place on Mon. & Tues. This is the second time we've experienced this problem. Golf now was gracious enough to refund our previous round. I hope their refund policy will continue. The course was in great shape except for the greens.
Golf Play Extremely Slow
The course is in great condition.
The only issue is the pace of play and the reasoning for it by the club house.
We were told basically to deal with it because "what do you expect? It's a Municipal Course."
Took almost 6 hours to play the round.
Good course, play it.
This course is in great shape, the greens are the fastest I have seen them, you can 3 putt easily, respect it. Good layout, must place some shots, it will challenge you.
Play this course, worth the drive and good value.
