Chicopee Country Club
Chicopee Country Club offers excellent private course conditions at an incredible value!! I would pay twice the price to play here and it would still be a superior value. A++++++++ overall rating.
Great course, in excellent shape.
Great conditions, they have done a good job with this course. Their next item to improve should be the sand traps. Slow round for us, busy day, some people taking too long to play, made for a 4.5hr round.
If you have not played this course, you are missing out.
Another great day at Chicopee CC
The course was plush, pace of play was slow due to the foursome in front on me that never let me thru. I was a single and waited on every shot from the tee to the green. That doesn't take away from the course as it was in excellent condition. Love the course!
Staff and Course Exceptional
Due to extreme traffic on the pike I called and stated I was going to be late. The Pro Shop was more than understanding and said they would fit us in. Upon arrival 1250 vs 1227, the Pro Sop was extremely cordial. We signed in and within 10 mins we were teeing off. The course was plush, pace of play was 4 hrs for 18 and upon completion of the round we enjoyed refreshments served by a very friendly staff member Michele. Though we didn’t eat the menu offerings looked great.
Excellent course conditions.
Don't miss out on this course, it is in the best shape I have seen it. Great layout, will challenge you to make some shots. We had no one in front or behind us, played in 3.5hrs.
Best conditions in years
Played this course several times, it is in the best shape I have seen it. Great weather, went out as a twosome with a foursome in front of us, excellent pace, we finished in 3.5hrs.
Best bargain in the country
I’ve played a lot of round all over the country at various price points, but even without GolfNow, the full non-resident rate is the best bargain in the country.
We played on a Friday with a GolfNow deal for $23, but full rate is only $38. The greens rolled perfectly. The holes offered a variety doglegs and elevation changes. Did I mention, the best rolling greens of the summer!
The starter was friendly. The guy in the clubhouse was friendly. The cart woman was friendly. And the bar owner was friendly.
If I lived closer, I’d play this course everyday.
Good Deal
Great hot deal price on a busy Saturday. Course in excellent shape, as always. Play got a bit slow as the round went on. Worth a trip from Central Mass.
Worth the trip
Decided to try this course after reading the reviews and I’m glad we did. Very nice layout and very good conditions for a municipal course. The greens were nice and quick. I did have to repair a lot of other people’s ballmarks, but that’s not the course’s fault.
Unfortunately, there is the awkward transition from hole 11 to 12 where they were forced to change #12. Would’ve been nice if they could’ve kept the original layout.
The pro shop staff was very helpful and friendly. Same with the food and beverage staff. The starter was efficient, but a little uptight. He could lighten up a little and still do a good job.
We all agreed we want to put this course in our rotation and look forward to our next round there.
Don’t slice it
I once hated this course. I now love it. Bunch of good guys running it. Fairways are soft and greens are fast and true. Fairly large greens compared to some other local courses. Even when aeration was done, the ball rolled nice. So a fade does you no good most holes. A slice is a death sentence. If you hit a draw or a straight ball you’ll be confident with most shots. Cool layout. Each hole on the front has its own flavor. The back has a more straight forward approach, yet is fun and has holes a fade won’t kill you. If you wanna shoot low here you need to pick targets and be aggressive. Holding back won’t do you much, other than maybe not loosing a ball here and there, but the only way I ever played it well was when I went for it. Rates are good. Driving range is so so, but works. I like hitting off grass, they use mats. Would be cool to have bunker practice area. Practice green is nice. Go play it. When you get frustrated...play it again!
Great place to play
The course was in excellent condition and the staff were more than accommodating. I would absolutely recommend playing here 10/10
One of the best Muni courses in W.Mass!
I had a tee time of 12:27, but the starter let me go early. The pace of play moved along well and as a single, the foursome let me play through on the fourth hole. The temperature was in the high 70s', low humidity and bright sunny skies. A perfect golf day. Even in mid May the course is looking good. I know the newer subcontractor (IGM) has been doing a good job of groundskeeping, with evidence in the greens and fairways. Jeffrey Cornish did a great job in course design back in 1965. The only regret I have about the course is the two holes (5&12) where the legal fight changed those holes. If you are not aware of that history, you should ask an employee about the history and changes - for the worse.
I look forward to more enjoyable rounds at Chicopee CC this season. At about 5900 yards from the white tees, it's not as long as Westover, but a bit more fun layout.
Great Shape
Played here for the first time in many years. Course was in overall great shape. Challenging layout with plenty to to cause problems if not careful. Recommend.
Good but for one thing.
Based upon my star rating you can see that I enjoy this course. It’s always in great shape. The ONE complaint that I have is that this track always FORCES you to play with another twosome if you reserve a twosome. Doesn’t matter what time on a weekday it is. I’ve been forced to play with a twosome with a 715 am tee time on a Wednesday morning. I understand the concept. Speed up play and group pairings together. Just would like some notice. What if one wants to play with their mother or father without two strangers around at all times. Or talk business with an important client. I would gladly pay full price instead of a “hot deal” to atleast have the option of playing just with who you intended on playing with.
Course is in great shape!
Considering the long winter which seems like it just ended a couple weeks ago, the course was in amazing shape. Greens are fast but true now, so I can only imagine how quick they are in the heat of the summer. Friendly workers in the pro shop and at the bar and grill. One of the best municipal courses we’ve ever played, will definitely be back again this season.
Starter needs etiquette training
If I had one wish it would be when you call a course for a tee time they will have the courtesy to tell you if they’re aerating. We had to drive for an hour to arrive and find this out. I understand courses must aerate and to tell people this they would lose business, but they’ve lost it anyway. We were told we had to play the first 9 twice because they were aerating the back 9. If I had wanted to play 9 twice I could have chosen one of the many 9 holes courses in my area. At the very least there should have been a substantial decrease in price for such deplorable conditions; they knocked $3 off. We played, only to discover on the first green they had just got done aerating in the past few days and so we were putting on sandy greens. Chalk it up to our mistake for not asking. Another problem arose when approaching to start our "back 9". Course etiquette says you take turns with those lined up to do the front 9. The starter let 2 groups that were waiting to start the front 9 out in front of us, instead of sandwiching us in between. When it was brought up that we should be next he said he worked a 9-hole course for years and knows protocol, but had no explanation why he let others out in front of us. To add insult to injury, the first group he let out was so incredibly slow it took us 3 hours to play the “back 9” versus 2 hours to play the “front”. Had a ranger or starter been making periodic runs to see why things just weren’t moving, they would have seen 2 full holes in front of this group and informed said group of courtesy for slow play, which ironically was posted in the cart about slow play and you must keep up with the group in front of you. This group did not let anyone play through. As a result of this dreadful experience, we took our dining and drink business elsewhere and will NOT be returning anytime soon.
