South Shore Country Club

The course is fantastic - a great example of golden age architecture. Conditions were a mixed bag - greens were excellent but there were a ton of burned out or bare spots in the fairway. I’ll give them a pass since it’s been a tough summer. I won’t give them a pass on pace of play however. We waited on every shot for 18 holes. One of the par threes had 3 groups stacked up on the tee. Never saw a ranger. Took almost five hours to play, which is absurd when tee times seem to be 12 minutes apart. I’d really like to go back and play again, but I doubt I will because of the slowness.

the course and the staffl where very professional and friendly However there seems to be some kind of issue with booking with golf now it seems to be a problem that they do not have your reservations on their system

The Good: Staff was top notch. Greens were fantastic. Fairways and rough were just okay.

The Bad: Trying to get from one hole to the next was very difficult, especially for a first-timer to the course. POORLY marked directions to next hole. Went to wrong hole twice. If you look closely you’ll see the hole : on a small post. The TEENY, TINY map on the card makes it really difficult to see the hole numbers so the you know the direction you are hitting since there are many blind shots. Again would it kill the course to put a layout of the hole on each tee box?

The Ugly: The carts are some of the worst I’ve ever used. My back was really sore after the round from all the bouncing around the cart did. And the rain guard on the back kept falling down because the Velcro was so worn. The cart guy had to tape it so it would fall. Very cheesy. And final complaint was the snack shack was closed when we made the turn... at 3:30!!!! I asked why and was told “it’s a holiday”!! If you are going to be open on the holiday all aspects of the course should be open or at least have someone driving a cart around with snacks and beverages. I would have brought my own cooler had I known but I know courses frown on that.

Overall I would rate this course a 5 out of 10. There are much better courses and amenities that you can get for less than the $75 greens/cart fee.

I was only able to complete 9 holes due to lightening. The staff which was doing their jobs did not allow me to finish and would not give a rain check. They instructed me to contact Golf Now

Purchased golf now hot deal thanking that cat was included in price when I got to the course I was checking in person said I have to pay $20 more for a power cart I said to him I’ve bought a hot deal cart is usually included he said this is for walking only anyway course was not in great shape the rough hadn’t been worked on or cut in a long time usually this course is in a lot better shape so if you want to pay $64 for a round of golf then that’s what you’ll get to walk this course you better be in great shape because the golf course is very hilly Golf now should tell you if cart is included

This is one of the most challenging courses around a lot of different things happening usually I struggle but today I had the best round that I’ve ever had in my life I shot an 89 including losing two balls adding strokes and missing two easy parts I was very impressed the course was in great shape and I will certainly play here again soon and the staff was exceptional thank you guys by the way I caught A hot deal on Groupon’s for $19 in the card was 20 what a great day

How can be no tee boxes? Over priced for the value of green fees. Very disappointed.

For this time of year the course was in good shape greens were rolling pretty good hope to play it once more before it gets too cold

As a new golfer I really enjoy this course. A great mix of challenging holes. Fairways and greens are in very good shape. Staff was extremely friendly, including the woman in the pro shop and the starter. Great to have a course of this quality in an area that’s local for me. Will definitely be playing it again!
