Excellent day. Course is a nice lay out, challenging but fair. Greens are small, recently aerated. Overall will return!
Good on a busy holiday weekend
All went well for a busy holiday weekend. Course is good for a dry summer, some dry spots
Slow play
When we got there everything was great after 2 holes that's when trouble began. Kids goffing off wait 5 to 10 minutes every hole no Rangers and extremely hot the experience was bad
Worth a visit
Unique and older course. Not long, but really difficult approach shots. Drought has had a big impact on fairways, rough and tees. Not an easy walking course. Greens are tough, and 2 putting can be the hardest task in your round. A course, like many others, that will be appreciated more, the more it is played. Play it with someone that knows it really well.
Be below the flag !
Tough course, greens very quick. Fairway were browned out due to the drought in mass. Lots of slope to the fairways and greens. Accuracy is key for your approach shots otherwise good luck !!!
South shore
Very nice can't wait to play again
Old School New England Course
For someone like me who lives close to Boston, it's difficult to find an affordable course to play without driving 45 minutes. Golfnow has some goo prices with their Hot Deals, so I grabbed an afternoon tee time on a Saturday. I was very pleasantly surprised to play a 4 hour round at that time. The course was in decent shape. The greens are generally good, but there are some dry spots out in the fairways. Your ball runs forever in the dried out rough. A fairly short course at 6200 from the tips, with not too many really tricky holes.
Open tee boxes
Some of the tee boxes at this course were not open yet
Very nice golf course
I enjoyed the course very much. I liked the elevated greens. Things were in good shape.
Great Course, great location!
Course is kept in great shape for the fall season! The greens were clear of leafs and divots!
Overpriced, unfriendly course - poor design and course maintenance
Used golfnow hot deal t time for $34 with a cart on a Friday. Still too much money for this track that more closely resembles the hard hat experience of Presidents in Quincy than its Hingham contemporaries like Boston Golf club and Black Rock. Even for a Friday afternoon, the pace was unbearable slow, usually a testament to poor t time management, and absentee/apathetic rangers. Also, for such an extremely hilly course (get ready for plenty of side hill lies with blind approach shots), there were too many walkers not able to keep pace.
Teed off at 1250p and wasn't told by pro shop staff that carts had to be returned by 430. We would have opted for a different course if we knew that in advance, no chance of getting in 18 before then. Granted, daylight savings does get dark by 5 anyway, but a course shouldn't accept full payments for 18 when they know 18 holes are not possible. Unscrupulous practice which is all too commonplace in MA. No excuse for the poor conditions of the t boxes and fairways given the perfect weather this fall has brought for growing. No other south shore course is in nearly in bad of shape. Btw, full rate would have been $55 - a joke when you consider the conditions. Not sure hostess place stays in business, must be the short seasons and lack of public courses in Hingham.
In short, you would be better served to seek out those courses with fall specials, better conditions, and friendly staff who appreciate your business (pembroke, Halifax, cohasset, Braintree muni, even Widows Walk).
I've played here before but will not be returning again - Not nearly enough value for the money.
Fun track
Not the longest course but makes up for it with some tighter fairways and fast greens. Really enjoyed the course every hole had something interesting about it. Liked how it was pretty well spread out not a lot of that back and fourth city course layout type of holes you actually have tree lined fairways most of the time.
South Shore Is A Great Track
South Shore CC is a great track! I forgot how good of a track this was to play as it has been a while. The greens were rolling nicely. On this windy day, the conditions were tough to play in but the course is in a good a shape as I could remember. It is worth the trip even though it isn't a long ride. Pace of play was outstanding and the slower groups allowed for faster groups to play through. i finished my round in 2 hours! Incredible! South Shore offers a variety of shots to hit using most of your bag. The greens are undulating with subtle movement which made them a treat to put on!
Nice Saturday Round
Played SSCC on Saturday 09/26/2015. Course was in very good shape for late in the year. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Short, challenging but very fair
So I've played this course before and I love this test of golf. This course is not long from the tips but it definitely is a course that you'll need to find the fairway. The greens are always fast and have a ton of slope to them as well. Miss the green and you're in a bunker or need to be creative to get up and down. Overall, it's a great test of golf.
Great Track
Love the piece of land and layout. Every shot in your skill set needed. Great greens. Tee boxes a little rough but weather has been tough/dry for some time. Course is tough but fair.
Fun but slow
Course was in decent shape and tough pin locations. Pace of play was really bad. There was a club championship, which they should tell people about, and there were some groups playing like it was the Open Champinonship. But overall a great experience.
