Birthday
Nice course greens always great. Fair ways n good conditions my game wasn't as good today. But will be back
Look forward to playing again
We went off at 11.24 and the whole course was ours. No issue with pace of play, Course knowledge will save you a few strokes. Such as the 2nd, keep it to the right of the fairway off the tee box and you will have a good shot into the green. Fairways in very good condition. Tee boxes were a little rough, however the greens were the star of the day, fast and smooth. Suggest you do not land above the hole, three putt may be in your future. Look forward to playing this course again n again n again.
Hidden jem
Although 1 hour from home it was worth the drive. Excellent layout. Great conditions. Good roll on the greens.
All in all an A+
Must play
Long and friendly tight in places greens are fast keep the ball below the hole
GREAT COURSE
I HAVE PLAYED HERE A FEW TIMES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. EXCELLENT COURSE FOR VARIOUS PLAYER LEVELS. ONLY PROBLEM THAT I HAD WAS FROM SOME MEMBERS THAT SNAPPED BECAUSE WE HAD TOO MANY GOLF CARTS. ITS VERY CLEAR THAT MEMBERS AREN'T TOO HAPPY WITH OUTSIDE PLAY. THESE SAME MEMBERS WILL BE COMPLAINING WHEN THE COURSE GOES SEMI-PRIVATE BECAUSE THERE AREN'T ENOUGH MEMBERS! ONLY NOTICEABLE ISSUES ... CART PATHS NEED REPAVING. MEMBERS NEED TO CHILL AND WELCOME OUTSIDE PLAY TO HELP BRING IN NEW $$!!
Drive it straight
I enjoyed playing the course, but by no means had my A game. You have got to drive the ball well..and straight. Hit the fairways and you are ok. Play with someone who knows the course. Some driving areas are blind from the tee, so you need to pick a target.Greens are good, not extremely fast, and they putt true. Putt for the hole, the break is not there. Par 5's are fair, as long a you hit fairway. A lot of straight par 4's.
Par 3's are split, two long, two short.
We played the ball down, as fairways were really tightly mowed. If you are used to taking a preferred lie, this could be tough for you. Also, a lot of OB (out of bounds) see hit the fairway. I would think for senior golfers this course is pretty challenging. For the young guns, they can handle it, if they drive well.
All in all a good day, and I will take another shot soon.
Mixed Feelings
This course is great, if you like golf you'll love this.
Long par 4's, fast greens with lots of hidden little breaks. Second shot accuracy is key, and the course gives you several different ways to attack each hole. The 2nd hole I'm not a fan of, but that's about it. I love the 15th, that is a golf hole.
What is not great is the obvious anger from the staff & members that the public is allowed to get 2 tee times a day. I was greeted poorly when I checked in, and by the 3 other people I saw on the course while my group was playing.
A simple "how are you doing today" turned into blank stares back like I was committing a crime.
Then 3 minutes later these people accused someone I was playing with of hitting their ball, when they were standing 7 feet from it.
By all means come play and really have a challenging day of golf, just don't expect any proper ediquette from the people who there.
A great track with really good spring conditions.
This is a good layout with very challenging par 4s. We were welcomed warmly by the pro shop and club members. I was a member of this club 20 years ago and really like most of the changes the course has made. Looking forward to playing there again this summer.
Great course
Obviously it is very early in season so a little rough around edges, but, in summer time I can imagine that course would be brilliant. Greens rolled fast and true for early season
Great course and value
I used to be a member here. I play using Golfnow when my new home course isn't available.
This is a really nice old New England course. Tremendous value for money if you get a prime tee time. Many holes require local knowledge -- you're going to have a slow round if you hit driver at every opportunity and aim for every pin. Round speed was fine though my group wasn't playing too fast due to lost balls.
It's kind of sad that they don't let you use the driving range, which is one of the nicest in Southern New England. It certainly leads to slow play and lost balls.
Classic New England Course
The course was great. Challenging layout, with lots of unique holes. The greens ran fast and true, and were in excellent condition (especially for late in the season). I paid 25$ for 18 with a cart, which was an excellent value.
My only gripe was the pace of play, which was unexpected for a private course (4.5 hours), as there was a 4some of older members duffing it around in front of us, with no intention of letting us play through.
I will be back here again.
Great Course
Great course, flat for the most part but very challanging.
Booked a 4 some online only $50 each with a cart.everybody we met there were friendly and very helpful and we hadn't even checked in yet.
Played the white tees as it was suggested for us to do so by several members around the practice green.
Fairways were great (I heard), as I can only vouch for the 5 I managed to hit.
The greens were very fast but true,3 putted most of them tbh.
All four of us enjoyed the place from start to finish and will definitely be back.
Thank you everybody who added to our experience down there, certainly worth the drive down from Quincy.
Windy and Cold
The course was in great condition, but the weather was poor. The wind was blowing the whole round, gusting around 20 -30 MPH. It did not help that the sun was not shinning during the round also. Everyone in the group was bundled up, which everyone knows makes it very hard to swing the club.
But as stated above the golf course was great just wish it could have been a little warmer. Just one thing, there is a driving range, but as a guest you will not be allowed to use it. Putting green only.
Great old course
Enjoyed playing here. There were a good amount of trees on the course which separated the holes well. Not too many twists and turns, most par 4's and 5's played straight up. Greens not too difficult.
I found a very good deal on Golf Now, staff was very friendly and accommodating with my booking. Opened in 1893 making it one of the oldest courses in the US. Will be back for sure.
great course!
it was great for me to play in here first! I used to play in TX, and it was a different experience! especially the green looked like more harder than TX!
Ranger needed
They are letting the public play now. They need a ranger. Back to back groups of older ladies that were horrendous. 4 group backup due to this
Fantastic.
Absolutely fantastic in every way!
tee boxes ...10/10
fairways 10/10
greens 10/10
rough is a true penalty, in a great golf course way.
I have played roughly 35 different courses this season, and none
come close to this.
Long course (even from the whites) so i wouldn't recommend
that beginners play here, But if you want to experience perhaps the best layout and conditions, and what surely must be the quintessential New England design, Then get on golf now and snag one of the very few tee times they make available to the public ( this is a private club, and the oldest course in new england i believe.), you will love it.
Great course layout, a must on your list.
Great weather to be playing golf, and this historical course did not disappoint. Challenging holes will test your skill and patience, place your shots and you will be happy with results. Our pace of play was slow (due to a tournament), but I enjoyed this course and would recommend to anyone, I will play again.
