Rude pro shop
Course was in great shape. Strange layout and no idea wht the yardage whas the whole day, very uncomfortable. Play somewhere else till they get rid of the cc attitud not deserving.....
Course was awesome
This was the second time i played this course and its still the best around.
Outstanding value - great "players" course
Love this course and it's challenging, yet fair play. For the fee I was charged to play WITH a cart, it was a no-brainer and a joy.
Awesome as usual
Played 8/3 using golf now app.
Got the deal using the preview or member for a day promotion.
First of all, this is one of the oldest courses in the U.S.
And it has stood the test of time, especially the greens which play fast with many subtle breaks.
The course has many challenging holes in which a second round would be needed to score well.
Tee boxes are in 7.5/10 shape and marked for distance
Each hole is unique, with shot shaping needed to be in position, otherwise you will have a tough time on the 2nd shot with many bunkers and hills guarding the green.
Par 3's play long and well guarded, witnessed a ace on 17 last year
Par 5's are all reachable in 2 with an accurate tee shot.
Fairways are in good shape, and with a little extra room on the sides in case of errant tee shots. Well marked up to 250 yards outs.
Again, this is a private course.. So I feel a little lucky to get out there, the members fix divots and are friendly, I'm certain it is because they are trying to recruit younger members.
The rates are well worth it I played on a Monday at 11:15 for $35 the bar is well stocked and they will give ou a cooler for your beers.. I believe bud lights were $3 each, big hot dog and chips $5
Close to perfect
Overall, this is a hidden jewel of a golf course. Well groomed, fast greens, challenging tee setups. Only had two gripes:
1. There is no map of the course. Me and my partner were guessing on how the hole is shaped, where water was, etc. a hole map on the card or at the hole would have been handy.
2. No ranger: we were stuck behind a foursome of women, who weren't keeping pace with the group ahead of them. Added a hour to the round.
With that being said, this is a challenging layout worth the $ and wait.
Strange Layout
Not in good shape, lots of dust and bare ground around the tees and walkways. Some very strange holes - one par three has a public road that runs between the tee and the green. No obvious place to stop for a snack or a sandwich. Personnel of this mostly private course not too friendly to visitors.
golf now review
While I have played at Seggy as the members call it many times I am writing this review for golf now. The course was in tremendous shape and has a nice mix of long and short holes. It is pretty challenging in spots and an over all fun day of golf. Greens were quick and rolled great. They offer a great value for any one to get on and play and it is well worth a visit for an enjoyable day of golf.
Great course
This course was a steal for $50. Excellent condition. Course is challenging but the ball plays as expected. The greens are consistent. Can't find a better value for the money on golf now. I will definitely play this course again.
Traditional old course
This course, one of the founding clubs of the Mass Golf Assoc., is a enjoyable traditional layout. Would be fairly easy to walk the course. Straightforward design, no tricks. Moderate challenge to play. Course was in good condition.
Segragansett is a hidden gem!
Great experience from start to finish on all levels. Perfect condition of the greens. Can't wait to go back there and play again!
Decent course
I thought the course was fun. Not my favorite layout but still fun. Conditions of the fairways and greens is why I gave it 4 stars.
Wish I saw a ranger while playing. We had a 4 some in front of us who never let us pass them. These older gentlemen should have been playing from the golds. This made for a 5 hr round. If the course was closer I'd play again.
Didn't rate the food because we didn't eat at the course.
Great Golf Now Deal
Challenging front 9. Tee boxes well marked. Distance markers in fairways. Firm fast greens. Ball placement critical on front half. Club selection all over the place. Good scoring opportunities for longer hitters but good short gamers can put true. Fun course.
Great Old Course ...needs better staffing
Arrived 2hrs early to use their excellent practice facility but was advised by a very indifferent golf shop staff member that practice facility for "members only"
I went to the practice green and met other players (not members) who had previously used the practice area each time they had played here ! I asked again and was told the same thing, I was advised there was no starter to arrange a pairing and to just take a cart.
Great historic golf course! Potential members would not consider this a pleasant experience! As a former TPC staffer this was unacceptable and should be addressed.I played 11 holes mostly standing in fairways and waiting behind a twosome and in front of a threesome which could have been avoided with a starter.Next time I'll be sure to bring a foursome! Thanks GOLF Now for the opportunity !
Good Deal
Fun course to play. Challenging holes. True, quick greens.
Goofy Layout
Certain holes have you questions who designed them and why they are allowed to design golf courses. Great condition. Fast pace. Older gentleman in the clubhouse was rude , kind of seemed like he did not want us there.
great course
fairways are excellent, greens are good, and good variety on layout of holes
Something different
This is an excellent course that I am glad they opened for public play again after many years as a private club. The course is not particularly difficult but club selection and position are very important.
Oldie but goodie
very well kept course with a few challenging dog legs
Excellent Opportunity
Even following a day of heavy rain the course was firm and carts allowed on fairways. Open fairways but plenty of water and sand to protect the greens. Three sets of tees allows for all levels of play. Greens firm and undulating adding to the challenge. Walkable for those that prefer. 4 hour round is easily achieivable on a regular day. Great opportunity to play a private course. Small pro shop with reasonably priced shirts, hats, etc.
A hidden gem
Beautiful layout. Some very challenging holes but fair if you chose the right tees
