Nice Course, Great Layout
Despite seeing some less than positive reviews, I took a ride over. While it's true the course needs a little TLC, I think the course is coming along nicely since the new management took over. The fairways are coming in good and the greens are already in great shape. I will definitely be back to play again. Well done!
Slow
Slowest shaggist greens i hsve ever played on. I knew i was in trouble when i saw sand fly om #1.
Never disappoints
This course never disappoints. It’s been in great shape every time I’ve played. I haven’t played the North Course yet.
Fairways long as the 1st cut
Good greens and punitive rough.. but the fairways were horrible. Recently cut, but still as long as rough.
Great course
The Soutj course at Stowe Acres is worth the time. I loved the course and the condition was great for this time of year. I highly recommend it and I will be coming back often. I’d like to give shout out to the Golf School at Stoew Acrea as well. I had the pleasure of attending the 3 day school taught by Dan Halverson. If you need any improving I recommend Dan for private lessons or the school. I’ll be going to see him again for some tuning up for sure.
South at Stow it worth a shot
Both courses are very nice at Stow.. we played the south in the morning and then played the North that afternoon. It is early in the season, and the conditions were decent for late spring in Massachusetts. Stow has two layouts, with wide fairways and large greens. It is a great place to play tucked away in Stow, MA
Excellent course
Great layout with the right number of challenging holes. The course was in excellent shape considering the time of year. Greens were nice and firm, they played consistently. Fairways were wet in spots, but that is to be expected in April.
Good course for a casual round.
Not the most creative or challenging course. But, there are a couple of impressive holes. It is in good shape and the staff and clientele are friendly.
Mediocre Course Conditions
I was extremely disappointed with the course conditions. I didn't realize the greens were recently aerated until I got there, the tee boxes were in rough shape, the fairways had many bare spots, just to name a few examples. I played the course years ago and it was in much better shape so I was overall disappointed, especially for the amount.
So many better choices
As the title says there are way too many better run courses to spend your money at. Starter did not adhere to tee times and just sent players to tee before group in front even hit their 2nd shot. Waited 7-8 minutes between each shot. waited at each tee with group in front of us for 7-8 minutes. 2 hrs and a whopping 6 holes later starter put his ranger hat on as course has no rangers and comes out and belligerently tells us we are holding up golfers behind us rather than driving ahead to see where there are open holes and having guilty group pick up and move along. No management, mediocre course conditions, no beautification anywhere, poor signage and I could go on. 19th hole ( that's being generous) is the equivalent of a high school cafeteria. You go up and order your food and when it is ready they yell it out and you go get it. Left after 6 holes (1st time ever doing that in 30 years) went next door to Butternut. Great conditions, great staff, pumpkins and mums everywhere, a real 19th hole with a real bartender and server. New owners appear to have picked up where last ones left off and they were foreclosed on. Will not surprise me to see it happen again
Stow Acres - North Course
Would probably only golf hear on a GolfNow special but it was great. Good pace, great conditions and friendly staff. Best if you are from the area car are a good 60 minutes away.
Too much up and down
Great example of the desire to build a golf course, without really having a good piece of land to build it on. Some holes interesting, but overall, narrow, and tough to find errant hits. Tees need some work (and sunlight and air) Bunkers we NEVER raked. Divots all over indicate poor care and/or guidance to players. A lot of public play is no excuse for not having the bunkers raked for days, even when it's obvious marks were both fresh, and old.
Do not recommend
Course was in terrible shape. Greens very slow. Cups weren' t even in place correctly. Stay way!
Could be great
I played south. It could be great. Lots of bare areas in rough. And greens were cut way too high, very slow! People who play there don't respect the course and therefor don't fix divots or ball marks. Bunkers were not raked or attended to at all. Unacceptable imo. The course needs more sun. Trees need to be cut down, for a more open layout, so greens and tee boxes can grow grass and so casual water can dry. I drove 55 minutes and wouldn't come back. More attention needs to be paid to the conditions. And I'm not bitter because I played bad. Shot 83. And I'm a 10 cap.
Highly recommended
Course was in great condition. Staff was welcoming. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
