Former Top 100 U.S. Public Course

I must pay my respects to one of the better public courses in MA. Rich in tradition and an outstanding layout, I give the new management 2 years to have this place back in shape. If mother nature cooperates...this will be a to-die-for venue very soon. They are really working their tails off and my hat goes off to them. Played the blues in 2 1/2 hours...my fastest round in over 30 years. Greens - excellent, tees - very good, fairways - a few areas with turf loss from the drought but overall good, and the rough/waste areas were showing significant stress. Someone commented on the sand traps in a prior review...the Page brothers always liked them on the firm side as they helped to keep play moving when both courses handled nearly 200 plus rounds on a good day. Once things get even close condition-wise to where they could be...I would want to play here until they chased me off!!!

Needs work

We've had a very dry summer and it shows at this course. Must be a watering ban in place. Tee boxes and fairways were crispy. Sand traps looked great from a distance. Don't usually see the bright white sand in Massachusetts. However, the sand was very shallow and hard. So virtually hitting off hard pan every time. Understand that course is under new management, so hopefully it will improve soon

Great course for $50

Really nice course. They are doing some work, so a couple of rough areas surrounding the holes, but the tees, fairways, bunkers, and greens are in great shape. Especially given the heat/drought this summer in New England.

Interesting north course long and wide open. I would like to play the south course just to try it out

Better options in the area

Booked as a single on the South course. Had a $10 off promo. Came to ~$47 w/ cart. Paid in full online. Get to the course and the pro shop tried to charge me again. Pulled up the email on my iPhone and quickly ended that conversation.

As for the course itself. It's not worth the money they charge, IMO. It's an interesting layout, just not in the best of shape. I'd rather go play Butternut if I'm in that area.

Both Stow courses need a tremendous amount of work. I heard they're putting money into both tracks. With the price of primetime tee times they need to do A LOT better. I'd only play here again if I got a HotDeal for under $30.

Strong layout

Course was in good condition. They've apparently done som3 work of late. All the bunkers were redone.

The layout was very good and the course was challenging but playable for all skill levels.

Would recommend the course.

Poor maintenance

I have been playing this golf course for over 15 years and year after year the conditions go down hill. It does not seem that any money is put back into the golf course., so the conditions are very poor. The greens are usually the best part of the Stow Acres South experience, but not anymore. This year at least 5 greens were lost and they don't even warn you before you go out. . There is no sand in the bunkers. Rocks and gravel. The fairways and tees are burnt out or chewed up. Even the hot dogs at this facility are low grade. Its sad because this facility used to be great. They should sell it or fix. The parking lot used to be full when they took better care of this facility. Now... you can get a tee time any time. It has fallen into complete and utter disrepair. It's like grandma's back yard.

Great greens, fun challenging layout.

Course was in very good shape and pace of play was good. Greens where fast, rolled true and in excellent shape. Wood lined fairways required accurate tee shots. Maybe I'm used to more affordable golf in other places I've played but $78 with a cart seems a little high.
