15 tee from the tips. Photo submitted by u000007694434 on 06/29/2020
Greens are excellent.
Course is great shape, with excellent greens, fairways bunkers and tee boxes.
Was first off and walked in 3 hours. Grounds crew were working hard ahead of me.
Great layout and harder than it looks - rough Is fair but deep grass will cost you a ball right now. You might find two balls looking for yours..
Felt like Scotland....
Early morning tee time (6:30) brought ominous clouds and wind gusts to 30 MPH. Lots of fun on this fine links course. Starter was a tad late showing up to send me off but he's always very friendly. As the fist one off, I had a single behind me that kept me moving. Finished the front 9 in an hour!
Back nine was challenging as the wind and rain really started to set it. Got to the 16th green (in two hours mind you!) before the lightening put an end to the round.
This is a nice course to play and the staff is always friendly. They never do seem to have any amenities avaiable though - beer cart, snacks, etc. Bring your own!
The course is in great shape.keep it out of the fescue grass and you can score well here
Very slow, no golf course etiquette
Showed up for a 1:30 tee time, was behind a walker starting at hole #2, never once did he offer to let me play through nor did the starter while making the turn make any gestures to let me play through. One of the most miserable rounds of golf is played while being on vacation.
Meadows - GVSU Course
Always enjoy the course at GVSU. very well kept and a nice variety in layout and challenges.
Long, challenging course
The course was in excellent condition, which is paramount for any course. It has some forgiveness with larger fairways, but if you miss, it can make you pay. It's 7,000+ yards from the tips, and has yardage marked every 25yds or so from 225 and in. A little on thr pricey side, but compared to other courses that charge around the same, it's 2nd to none. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Excellent condition and a challenging course.
Was first off this morning and walked 18 with a single cart rider and we finished in 2: hrs 39 min. Greens were excellent, bunkers well raked and sandy and the fairways and rough in great shape.
Layout is good for walking and reasonable rates to play a course in great condition. Always enjoy the course.
GVSU Meadows
The course was good. Any ball in the rough was lost as it is very thick (but obviously I should stay out of there, haha). The matchings on the course done by the marshall was very odd and made the pace of play very undesireable. They were matching two 80 year old men walking with two younger guys on a cart. My pair was not matches up, thankfully but the pace was very slow and halfway through the front nine the younger guys ahead of us ditched the older gentlemen and we were stuck to pass the older walkers. Then the older gentlemen were very rude to us as we passed them. We ended up passing the twosome in front of them as well as they slowed down after a couple holes.
I would play here again for sure as long as the pace of play was more consistent.
Idyllic Links on Grand Valley State University's Campus
I hadn't played this course since I was in high school (math says it has been 13 years) so I was pleased to find it as I remembered - links style, plenty of risk reward, inherently walkable, and just over 7000 yards if you're so inclined. One of the finest public courses in the Grand Rapids area, and a value even on the weekends.
Another perfect day. But I didn’t play well
That is sometimes the true test of a golf course. You play horrible, like run out of balls in your bag horrible and still come home and use adjectives like, awesome, perfect, fun, enjoyable. I saw a great blue heron eat a fish, made 3 pars, walked 9 holes before work.
This course is such a fun collection of holes on the front. Second shot on 2 is so intimidating with water on both sides. 5 is so fun with the mounds along the right. The tee shot on 6 is a fun shoot. Make sure to go back a tee for the extra test here. 8 and 9 are great holes to finish. Love that 2nd shot on 9.
Perfect condition, the day was perfect. Pace was awesome as a walking twosome and had another twosome and foursome in front of us and never waited. Doesn’t get better than The Meadows in my book in the GR area.
Saturday golf at the Meadows
Our favorite course in the area. Great value for the money. Course in great shape, especially the greens. Very accommodating staff. Took 4:15 to play 18 with an early morning tee time. Not an easy course for beginners, so move up tee boxes if you’re a novice.
Challenging features.
Course and weather were perfect. I scored my first hole-in-one and the course gave me a commemorative flag.
Beautiful challenging course
We enjoy this course very much. It is always in great shape and the the greens are very fast and roll out beautifully! There is also a practice facility across the street that has something for everyone. The staff is very helpful and friendly! There are golf carts available but this course is very walkable . It is great value. highly recommend this course.
