Golfer Reviews
The Meadows
Great course. Excellent layout. Firm & fast conditions. Loved it. One of best courses in the state in my opinion. But the huge divots left un-replaced all summer and the most ball mark marred greens I think I have ever seen on a high end course. If players would just take care of it better or maintenance would send someone around to fix. Pace of play dragged to crawl on the back 9.
Great Course
The Meadows was in great condition considering the inch of rain we got last night. Greens were smooth and fast. Fairways near perfect except for unfilled divots, and most of the tees recovering quickly from aeration. We finished in 3.5 hours following a threesome on a full course. Nice variation of holes and plenty of distance from the back tees for long hitters, while playing nicely from the senior tees for shorter hitters.
Great Value - tough course
The course plays like links style course. Really important to understand your target lines. GPS would really help the golfer who has not played here before, and you can download the course yardage book to your phone (highly recommended). One of the few courses the fairways were like a sponge. Greens were in excellent shape and when you hit the green the ball stops. Don't plan on hitting in front of the green and the ball rolls on. I'm pretty good putter but I sure struggled on the greens. They run true but have subtle breaks. Best recommendation hit it close and let your playing partners give you gimme.
Greens are excellent.
Course is great shape, with excellent greens, fairways bunkers and tee boxes.
Was first off and walked in 3 hours. Grounds crew were working hard ahead of me.
Great layout and harder than it looks - rough Is fair but deep grass will cost you a ball right now. You might find two balls looking for yours..
Felt like Scotland....
Early morning tee time (6:30) brought ominous clouds and wind gusts to 30 MPH. Lots of fun on this fine links course. Starter was a tad late showing up to send me off but he's always very friendly. As the fist one off, I had a single behind me that kept me moving. Finished the front 9 in an hour!
Back nine was challenging as the wind and rain really started to set it. Got to the 16th green (in two hours mind you!) before the lightening put an end to the round.
This is a nice course to play and the staff is always friendly. They never do seem to have any amenities avaiable though - beer cart, snacks, etc. Bring your own!
