Golden Hawk Golf Club
About
Golden Hawk Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Casco Township, which is just south of Richmond. You won't find too many elevation changes throughout the course but you will encounter plenty of water. There are also 36 bunkers coming into play on 12 holes. The course isn't particularly long at 6,117 yards from the back tees, but the par 4s offers some good length and the ample room off the fairways gives the course a spacious feel. The fairways are generous and quite forgiving, but golfers will face tough approaches to the greens, which are often nestled into the woods or bordered by ponds. The slightly elevated, undulating putting surfaces require accuracy. Golden Hawk Golf Club is a fair test but it's player friendly enough for high handicappers to approach with confidence.

Beautiful course close to home
The course was well groomed and nicely challenging. Bring an extra sleeve of balls for the water hazards. Staff were exceedingly helpful and accomodating. Can't wait to play here again!
Golden Hawk
Work has been done and the course was in great shape. We were a couple and we often get paired with other people but the course had little woman around and guys don't like playing with couples - we were able to play together as a couple and I appreciated that. They do tend to book the tee times a bit tight though and it was a wait at every hole.
Course was ok but the pace of play was not regulated
This coarse is under new ownership and is unfortunately they are not watching the course for pace of play. On a Sunday know that around can take a little longer to play but waiting for 5-10 mins on every hole for the next group to tee off is not keeping the pace of play. One hole there wer 4 groups waiting to tee off. The entire round too 5 hours and 45 mins to play. We mentioned it to the staff but no ranger was seen for the whole round to talk to about it.
After the round I talked to the manager and he said that you should expect a 5 to 5 and a half hour round on the weekend.
Too bad as the course is a decent value for the quality but that is way to long for a round to take.
First round of the year
The only thing that really hurt this course was the time of year. The grass just started turning green so the fairway grass was not very full yet. I am sure the course will only get better as the season come in. Staff was very nice.
This course is one of my favorite
The course was in very good condition for Fall. Leaves this time of the year can make locating your ball a real challenge however the fairways had been pretty much clear. I will be back again this year if the weather permits.
rainy day
Always in good shape and well maintained Wil comeback.
Cart Path
Cart path was very muddy with lots fo water and holes. We had a lot of rain, but I think they could have
done something to make them a little better. Also
for the price you can't beat the course
Great course
Course was a little wet cause of the storm day before but greens and fairways were well kept. Staff was nice only down fall was very hot day and no beer cart girl to be found until the 18th hole.
Trying to find the next hole
We enjoyed are round. the only problem was finding the next hole because there was no one in front of us and no sign telling which way to go.
They also need to repair or replace all the signs that show the hole number or a layout of the hole which would show you which way to hit your tee shot.
get ready for a five some in front of you.
Starter Tom put a five some out in front of us. Said only 4 were playing but 3 carts 5 players and 5 bags.
5-some would not let us play thru so we skipped a hole since the 5 some was 2 holes behind.
HAVE NEVER HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE AT THIS COURSE. Slow play & rude player assistants. course conditions were very good - greens were excellent.
GET READY FOR SLOW PLAY
Not worth the price
Very disappointed with this course. It looked like this course, at some time in the past, was something special but then someone just said screw it and stopped taking care of things. There are no markers, flags, etc, on the driving range. Nothing to aim at or judge distance. The grass tees on the range were chewed up pretty bad plus the grass had not been cut in a while. They had mats out but there were no rubber tees for the mats. Ball machine was broken, had to wait for someone to hand us a bucket of muddy range balls covered in grass. The course was in rough shape. The fairways were nice, but the tee markers looked as if they hadn't been moved in 2 weeks The greens were horribly slow and covered in ball marks, which after seeing some of the people playing there, I could understand why. The edges of the bunkers and the ponds weren't cleanly trimmed, and the sand was hard as concrete. The pace was terribly slow. The course was somewhat busy but I didn't see a ranger once during the round. I drove from Northville expecting to play one of the nicer courses in the area (they charge you for it), not worth the drive or the greens fee. Maybe my expectations were wrong but wouldn't play here again even if it was free.
Day ruined by pace of play
I'd hate to give this course a low rating because of the slow people I was playing behind, but part of me thinks that those people are regulars. Multiple slow groups all over the course. But the greens were amazing maybe due to the rain a few days leading up to my outing.
Great course for the price
Great course for the price in great shape. Unless you play from the blues keep your driver in the bag on most holes. Watch for the ponds u can't see off the tees.
beautiful course
great course....in great shape. greens were beautiful, but the pins were placed in a tough spot
good value
The course was in good condition. Better then I found it in the past. I played the back tees which I would recommend for better golfers.
Golden Hawk not so golden anymore
We have visited this course occasionally since it was new. The course itself if still in good shape.
However, signs of financial distress are showing.
The pro shop had no merchandise, the golf carts are old and could use some TLC, (i.e. ours had no windshield). There were swarms of bugs on the course and so a windshield would have been nice.
There is no ranger on the course, so play was very slow and a group of 5 (yes 5!) young men behind us were somewhat annoying with their power braking skids on the cart paths to see who could skid sideways closest to the other carts, and playing up on us when we were constantly waiting for a slow group in front of us. Overall,
I would not recommend this course because of the pace of play. This course used to be for golfers who enjoy the game, now it seems to be a place where golf is a secondary part of the experience.
Rain
Only played three holes and it started to rain. Went in for a rain check and was told no rain checks on any Golfnow bookings. I paid for my brother and I for a Saturday full of golf and all I got to do was play three holes and got rained on. It looks like it would of been nice.
Average
I played the course for $20 so that brings my overall rating up to a good. I would play the course again for a $20-$25 rate, but probably would not pay more than that. I got stuck behind a a couple of foursomes and that really slowed my round. I had wait times between 5 and 10 minutes on just about every hole. I thought the course conditions were average. Some of the tee boxes had overgrown trees in front of them limiting shot selection. I personally think there are other ways to make a course challenging than to stick a tree in front of the tee box. The clubhouse and restaurant were nicer than most.
Food needs to be warmer/cold buns and cold dogs
Xellent course amazing sand traps and awesome greens
