Golden Hawk Golf Club
About
Golden Hawk Golf Club is an 18-hole course in Casco Township, which is just south of Richmond. You won't find too many elevation changes throughout the course but you will encounter plenty of water. There are also 36 bunkers coming into play on 12 holes. The course isn't particularly long at 6,117 yards from the back tees, but the par 4s offers some good length and the ample room off the fairways gives the course a spacious feel. The fairways are generous and quite forgiving, but golfers will face tough approaches to the greens, which are often nestled into the woods or bordered by ponds. The slightly elevated, undulating putting surfaces require accuracy. Golden Hawk Golf Club is a fair test but it's player friendly enough for high handicappers to approach with confidence.

They do not pair
The course is one of my favorites and is in great shape. The thing that I do not like is they have a course policy that they do not pair up golfers and that can be a problem for a single.
Nice course
First time playing the course and was impressed, the practice area was great with a separate chipping and putting green. The course is a bit short but proved to be a great round with a lot of water hazards that come into play often, the sand traps need a bit of attention as they have a lot of stones in them. The greens and tees are in very good condition with the greens being a little on the softer side. As for the facility it was nice, pro shop staff very friendly, the restaurant had a large selection on the menu and the food was good. I will be returning to this course as it was a great value and very fun to play, if you have not played this course yet place it on your list as you will enjoy it.
Nice course
Good course for a fairly good deal. Nice layout with some challenging holes. Fairways and greens were good with average speed but little break on the putts. Definitely will play again!
League play interfered with us finishing our round !
Sure would be nice if GolfNow would communicate with the course so we could finish our round. They said in the pro shop that it happens all the time. Disappointed
always fun at golden hawk
Course is always well kept and always a pleasure to go to... on some holes it can be a little challenging.... for example the first hole I felt a little rushed because they were busy and the driving range is right next to the hole and you have range balls all over the course
great course
The course was very wet because of terenchell downpour.
The starter was very pleasant.
The course ranger was rude as any person could be!!!!!
Love the course love the staff!
As always, course was great pro staff is EXCELLENT
club house
went in to eat after round. we sat there for way to long to get waited on. finally walked out.
Needs to learn how to book tee times
We had a 9:45 tee time. Got to the course a 9:20 and did not tee off till about 10:30. They booked our tee time and another group for the same time and they also had us teeing off in the middle of a Sunday morning league. We asked to tee off on the back nine and were told we could not. I like the golf course itself but probably won't go back until the fix the way they book tee times.
Great Course
The course is moderately difficult, and becomes challenging when playing from the back (blue tees). Greens are relatively flat, however plenty of hazards when approaching.
The only bad thing is the rangers do not stack reservations well.
Could be an out-standing course
This course has some well designed holes, but the power lines really takes it down. You'll find power lines on many holes.
I still play here a few times a year.
Great Bang For The Buck
I felt for the price, ($15 w/cart) the experience was great. The coarse was very well maintained. It had rained the morning I played, yet the coarse was not very wet. The were doing their aerating process, but let you know so you knew what you were getting into. Awesome experience. Will golf here again.
great course
i put this course up with my top 10 courses, no need for a discount to play this course but if you can get it for14 dollars on golfnow than why not. I just played greystone and gave it an equal evaluation so play them both.
course is challenging outing management needs to be looked at
Had our league outing at Golden Hawk. Golf course was enjoyed by all. But 16 out of 36 steaks came out raw. Tried to speak with Michelle who ran the outings for Golden Hawk. Same refused to return calls regarding our concerns. When a third party finally got ahold of her she could care less about what we tried to tell her about the food. I recommend the course but not the food.
G. William
Not too difficult and mostly in good shape. but like most courses we've played this year, the rough is too long!
For the $ the course you play is of good value.Though the day we played, the pace of play was slow which was surprising because the course was not that busy. definitely needed a ranger to oversee the players.
Very slow
Very poor pace of play and no concern from staff. Decent shape but will never go back
Decent, but pricey for such a tight course.
The course seems like it is pretty well kept, but on the afternoon I played the greens were a little banged up. The water hazard on 10 needs to be cleaned up, or they need to elevate the tee box. You couldn't even see the fairway because the cattails were so high. The course as a whole had some novel charm with great fairways and a few carved wood sculptures on the premises, but it lacked the space to really warrant the price. The layout is really confusing, and there is too much emphasis on tree lines and flowerbeds, where a smarter more spacious layout would give you a nicer golfing experience. Think less is more. The course seems overcrowded with man-made landscapes, and feels really tight throughout. Also, careful on the transition between #12 and #13, follow the signs or you might end up on #15 (as the tee box is right next to the #12 green). I waited 5 minutes after making the turn for #10 to clear, only to realize that I was waiting on 8 (after having just golfed it, so that should give you some idea of how similar the holes feel on such a tight course). Luckily, I did get the round for under 12 bucks, thanks to Golfnow. Worth the price, but were it not for the significant discount I received, I would not golf there again. To sum it up, it felt like golf in a subdivision setting.
Very enjoyable course, reminds of up north
Fun layout, nice fairways, fast greens. I thought this was great course for price, some blue tees in odd confusing locations, looking forward to playing again.
fun but confusing
my wife and I play different courses each week, its somewhat challenging and keeps you honest, They have changed all the holes around so keep your Swing by Golf and other GPS apps turned off
This course provides a great golfing experience
The course is located in a quiet rural area. The course has has numerous tree lined hole with ponds and bunkers coming into play on many shots. The fairways and greens are always very well maintained and the grass around the greens is lush and manicured.I have played this course many times and I always enjoy the experience.
