Double review so impressed with layout
I have already left a review but I am back to leave a second one because it popped up on my Internet so my wife and I were so impressed with the layout and the overall experience here at the score so I would love to come back here again. The isolation in the way out in the hills and elevation and the views. It’s just so much fun. But I pay hundred dollars no but I would pay $54 each on tee off for cost now. Yes, they do need new cards but the old club cars. Do a decent job. I hate those parking brakes though if they come off you’re going to be in trouble.
The young man in the clubhouse was OK not the most friendliest certainly not the least friendliest, but it was in his 20s and the odd thing is they close at 5:00 PM, so I don’t know what they do, just leave the car carts out overnight with the keys in them or what I have no idea kind of a weird situation. You would think they want to get a few more people out after five but I can understand that just up the road is the Horton bag General store or Ernest Hemingway spent a lot of time 100 years ago ,
We will be back again maybe in the fall or early fall when the leaves are just turning and the skies are a little more clear so we can see the lakes a little better, but I would highly suggest playing here before they go out of business is my wife even said I don’t know how they can stay in business because it just doesn’t seem like there’s enough volume.
As I said about the layout, there’s not really any two holes that are the same. Each one is individual and very memorable and there are several uphill shots not too many blind shots and at the top. Where are you meet with the 14th T I believe it’s the fourth or fourth do you think, you have your best view up there and there is an old foundation. Looks like there may have been a barn or house or something there or maybe even the course itself had something up there at one time but the day we were there was Wednesday, July 26, 2023 and it was very hazy and very high dewpoint of 68 so we were sweating but there was nobody there. It was just you have the place to yourself and I love that kind of feeling so get there check it out. Try to keep them There was nobody there. It was just you had the place to yourself and I love that kind of feeling so get there check it out try to keep them on business. Hopefully this owner will start reinvesting high fees and I only saw I believe two men working on the mowing machine, so there is somebody working there at least it is only about 10 to 15 minutes from Charlevoix in about 20 from petoskey Allie recommend around here
With some love and money this course could be one the best in the state. Beginning with the pro shop, it is very tired. Not sure how they make it financially. If they cut the price, they would do themselves a favor.
Our experience.
The layout, views and greens make it worth playing this course. The club house and golf carts and fairways are not resort or CC standards but the elevations and interesting hole layouts make it worth playing.
Ok for the money.
The course was in good shape. A few weeds in some fairways. The greens were good, fast and fun pin placements, with lots of movement. Only refreshments are at the start. Some pretty views out over the lakes.
Just okay
Had the first tee time of the day, 8am, and the clubhouse employee didn't show up until 8. 2 guys I was playing with were hoping to use the driving range ahead of playing, but that didn't happen. Course is an interesting layout with quite a few blind shots where if you don't know the course it can be easy to make a mistake off the tee.
Course was in decent shape overall. Some random issues here and there, but otherwise okay. Greens were in great shape and rolled pretty true with good speed ,but in typical public course fashion they like to put pins right at the top of slopes. So be ready to 3 putt because of that.
Don’t play here
Course ran out of carts came around asking everyone playing to give up their cart. Course is full of weeds and clover. Mold on greens. No cooler for drinks. Course triple booked tee times took 6 1/2 hours to play 18. They charge $90 to play and have a $20 work ethic. Do not play here. Layout is amazing. Hopefully they sell to Boyne, and it can get back to being a golf course.
beautiful course.
this is a lovely course to drive. lots of challenging holes and elevation changes. up north feel to the max. no houses on the course. you and nature.
First and last time playing

Great Track, lacking a lot of TLC.
This course was designed during the boom years of course design. It is a great track. However it never took off and over the many years began falling apart. The owner puts little money into the course and it is only a matter of time before it fully closes. The guy who runs the shop is funny and nice. He is a one man show running the entire place. Just realize you won't play a course that is near as nice as Bay Harbor, Hidden River or even Charlevoix Country Club. You will however have a good time. It is a coirse everyone should play once before it is no longer available.
Beautiful and fun
This was the first of many future rounds. Fully enjoyed the layout with varying terrain and huge elevation changes. Bunkers and hazards in all the right places. The views throughout the round are stunning. The mix of forest, fields, and “ski-run like”” holes made it very entertaining. Classical northern Michigan experience.
Don’t judge the course by the club house or amenities. It was a bit of a throwback experience, not in a bad way, but will call it “charming”. Staff was very friendly.
Course conditions were good, but not “premium” good. Great value for a Hot Deal.
Pace of play was excellent, never pushed or delayed. Wide open on a Wednesday late morning.
The course could use some more revenue to update, so get your group together and enjoy! (Just plan a little tailgating afterwards)
Based on your reviews, is there a course you liked?? You would complain about playing Augusta. Go buy a fishing rod!!!!
