Challenging Michigan golf
A challenging tract that requires all the shots. Lots of elevation changes and greens with lots of undulations and speed.
Beautiful Course
Love the course. Difficult, but much more fair than many years ago. The scenery and experience are first rate. I
The course was in great condition, very challenging, and a delight to play! Simply pure golf, without all the bells and whistles. Purists will absolutely love this course!
Dunmaglas
A couple notes about this course… 1. Course is in good shape. The greens were fairly slow but rolled smoothly. 2. Don’t judge a book by its cover. The carts are straight out of the 1980s and the clubhouse needs work but the course is worth playing. 3. This course is not easy. Lots of blind tee shots and uneven lies. Very penal. I am a 10 handicap and shot 92. Didn’t play great but not much room for error. Played with my father in law (63) who typically scores in the 90s and it was unfair to golfers of his skill level no matter what age you are. If you’re looking for a fun and easy round, this is not the course for you.
Don’t let the clubhouse fool you
The shabby clubhouse which was dark and unstaffed when I showed up for my tee time belies the quality and challenging nature of this gem.
Your gut will tell you it’s not worth it but when you get to the first tee you’ll realize you’re in for a treat. But beware, you don’t return to the clubhouse until the 18th hole so be prepared with four hours worth of water and snacks (there’s also no bev cart).
A tight course with bunkers in key areas and plenty of trees make this a challenge. I’m a 12-14 handicap and shot an 89, taking pride in bogey. The greens were undulating and fast while many holes rewarded smart shot placement and penalized “screw it, I’m going for it.”
The views, wildflowers and wildlife alone made the four hour trip through this course worth it alone. Bring your friends and enjoy this great course. Also the golf carts are old school gas carts and haul.
Dunmaglas golf
The course was beautiful with challenging and fun undulated greens. The gentleman at the counter told us he was from San Paola Brazil. Extremely nice to us. The course and clubhouse does need some work and the carts could certainly be upgraded. Some of the views were spectacular but you can certainly play nicer courses for less

Great staff! Course was in good shape. Difficult at times but very enjoyable and the scenery is amazing. The undulated greens were the best part. They really challenge your ability to read greens. Will definitely be back
Hidden gem
Northern Michigan is the place to be for Golf. This course is tucked in the rolling holes and is as pure as it gets. Fairways and greens were amazing. Planning a trip to come up here next year
A golfers must in Northern Michigan!
This course is always in great shape! The staff is very kind and make you feel welcome. It won’t be last time we play at this Beautiful course!
Nasty Conditions
To the owner, Please sell your course to someone that loves the game of golf and is willing to spend the time and money to bring it back to the level it once was. What a total ripoff. The carts are at least 20 years old, every single tee box and fairway was heavily infested with crab grass, weeds and dandelions. The sand traps had no sand, really? The greens were in horrible condition and had some type of fungus. My guess is every fairway had severe grub damage. We paid over $100 to play this goat tract. We should have known what the course was like the minute we pulled in the parking lot and saw five cars at noon on a Saturday
So sorry we didn't turn around on the 1st tee box, head back to the shack and ask for our money back. This place is in my top 3 nastiest courses I've ever played in my life.
Double review so impressed with layout
I have already left a review but I am back to leave a second one because it popped up on my Internet so my wife and I were so impressed with the layout and the overall experience here at the score so I would love to come back here again. The isolation in the way out in the hills and elevation and the views. It’s just so much fun. But I pay hundred dollars no but I would pay $54 each on tee off for cost now. Yes, they do need new cards but the old club cars. Do a decent job. I hate those parking brakes though if they come off you’re going to be in trouble.
The young man in the clubhouse was OK not the most friendliest certainly not the least friendliest, but it was in his 20s and the odd thing is they close at 5:00 PM, so I don’t know what they do, just leave the car carts out overnight with the keys in them or what I have no idea kind of a weird situation. You would think they want to get a few more people out after five but I can understand that just up the road is the Horton bag General store or Ernest Hemingway spent a lot of time 100 years ago ,
We will be back again maybe in the fall or early fall when the leaves are just turning and the skies are a little more clear so we can see the lakes a little better, but I would highly suggest playing here before they go out of business is my wife even said I don’t know how they can stay in business because it just doesn’t seem like there’s enough volume.
As I said about the layout, there’s not really any two holes that are the same. Each one is individual and very memorable and there are several uphill shots not too many blind shots and at the top. Where are you meet with the 14th T I believe it’s the fourth or fourth do you think, you have your best view up there and there is an old foundation. Looks like there may have been a barn or house or something there or maybe even the course itself had something up there at one time but the day we were there was Wednesday, July 26, 2023 and it was very hazy and very high dewpoint of 68 so we were sweating but there was nobody there. It was just you have the place to yourself and I love that kind of feeling so get there check it out. Try to keep them There was nobody there. It was just you had the place to yourself and I love that kind of feeling so get there check it out try to keep them on business. Hopefully this owner will start reinvesting high fees and I only saw I believe two men working on the mowing machine, so there is somebody working there at least it is only about 10 to 15 minutes from Charlevoix in about 20 from petoskey Allie recommend around here
With some love and money this course could be one the best in the state. Beginning with the pro shop, it is very tired. Not sure how they make it financially. If they cut the price, they would do themselves a favor.
Our experience.
The layout, views and greens make it worth playing this course. The club house and golf carts and fairways are not resort or CC standards but the elevations and interesting hole layouts make it worth playing.
Ok for the money.
The course was in good shape. A few weeds in some fairways. The greens were good, fast and fun pin placements, with lots of movement. Only refreshments are at the start. Some pretty views out over the lakes.
