About
The Fortress was inspired by classic Scottish golf courses, incorporating fescue-covered mounds and a liberal smattering of bunkers, 75 to be exact, around the large, sectioned greens. The expansive greens average 7,500 feet, providing golfers with some challenging putts. Patches of rough that are several inches thick and strategic mounding separate the winding fairways. The back nine holes are where the course really shines. It becomes especially interesting by the time you reach the par-4 13th hole, a dogleg left that is bordered by two large ponds. It is hard to decide which is worse: landing in one of the four bunkers or the deep gorse on the mounds behind the green, but both are better than losing your ball to the water. The signature hole of the golf course though is the 17th, known for its challenging island green. There is little room for error on the long, narrow green.

Golf
Course with tight fairways and the occasional open fairway but it was in perfect condition, greens were really quick but played true so putting was a blast
Beautiful course
Course was in great shape , only got in nine because of the rain would come back to play again .

Had a blast course was great n I shot 88 and it was great challenge for a new golfer.
A Consistently Great Experience
I’ve been playing The Fortress since I was a teen in junior golf, through Powerbilt Jr. PGA, high school, etc. I’ve never had a bad experience here. The course is always immaculate and challenging. Some of the truest greens you can roll on.
Everything went well. The only complaint I have is the cart paths are to far away from most greens. There was one hole where they would not let carts no closer than 150 yards from the green. If you have heart issues like I do that is just to far to walk. I did not pay for a cart so I can walk long distances fom green to cart path.
Par for the course
Considering there are very limited quality courses in the Saginaw/Flint area The Fortress is an appealing choice. Compared to courses elsewhere in Michigan however, it is overpriced given the quality of the layout/property
Great course
Course is great. Staff was great from the minute we pulled in. Cart girl right out to get clubs and club pro friendly and knowledgeable. Bring scuba gear for hole 13.
My tee time was cancelled.
I received a phone call from the golf pro in the morning. He let me know they aerated their green that morning and that I could cancel my tee time. I decided to cancel beings the greens were plinko'd. I am awaiting my refund.
Huge shout out to the golf pro for the heads up. I would of been really upset had a I showed up and found out the hard way.
Looking forward to playing when the green heal! It's an excellent course.
