About
The Fortress was inspired by classic Scottish golf courses, incorporating fescue-covered mounds and a liberal smattering of bunkers, 75 to be exact, around the large, sectioned greens. The expansive greens average 7,500 feet, providing golfers with some challenging putts. Patches of rough that are several inches thick and strategic mounding separate the winding fairways. The back nine holes are where the course really shines. It becomes especially interesting by the time you reach the par-4 13th hole, a dogleg left that is bordered by two large ponds. It is hard to decide which is worse: landing in one of the four bunkers or the deep gorse on the mounds behind the green, but both are better than losing your ball to the water. The signature hole of the golf course though is the 17th, known for its challenging island green. There is little room for error on the long, narrow green.

Gorgeous
Gorgeous but expensive. Immaculate course with GPS on carts
Best venue in Michigan
Not enough superlatives to describe The Fortress. What it may lack in off-course amenities, it offers in terms of the city of Frankenmuth in walking distance. Shoppes, hotels, restaurants.
Fantastic Round at The Fortress
First time playing The Fortress. 1 hour drive up I-75 and was greeted by friendly staff and welcoming fairways. Greens rolled consistent and true. Very attackable course if your driver and wedges are working well. Conditions were fantastic, the course is well manicured, plays absolutely pure and the layout is great. I have played many of the top courses in the state and this course is easily in my personal top ten. Modest family owned vibe but just a fantastic, fair and fun course.
Amazing
One of the nicest courses I’ve played. If it wasn’t such a drive for me, I would be there much more often!
Greens were awesome!!
Really don’t have any complaints about this course. Well maybe other than the price if I didn’t get the hot deal. Course was in great shape, nice greens not slow at all, just perfect.
Great Course…tough
Great course and the greens were perfect! Long and tough but fair from the correct tees. Seemed a bit expensive for a Weekday round to me. That is the only real complaint. Friendly staff.
