The Fortress Golf Course

About
The Fortress was inspired by classic Scottish golf courses, incorporating fescue-covered mounds and a liberal smattering of bunkers, 75 to be exact, around the large, sectioned greens. The expansive greens average 7,500 feet, providing golfers with some challenging putts. Patches of rough that are several inches thick and strategic mounding separate the winding fairways. The back nine holes are where the course really shines. It becomes especially interesting by the time you reach the par-4 13th hole, a dogleg left that is bordered by two large ponds. It is hard to decide which is worse: landing in one of the four bunkers or the deep gorse on the mounds behind the green, but both are better than losing your ball to the water. The signature hole of the golf course though is the 17th, known for its challenging island green. There is little room for error on the long, narrow green.

Great Course…tough
Great course and the greens were perfect! Long and tough but fair from the correct tees. Seemed a bit expensive for a Weekday round to me. That is the only real complaint. Friendly staff.
Perfect Fairways
I’ve played so many different courses and this one has to have the perfect fairways. I absolutely love how the maintenance crew takes care of this course
Great course in great shape
Course was in fantastic shape with some interesting holes.
Wet Conditions!
The Foetress is an excellent golf course. It had rained the night before so it was cart packed h only. GPS on the carts is another great amenity.
First time
Course was in great shape and greens are “PGA” quality. Tough pin placements will have you second guessing your game. Likely the best course I’ve played in MI to date. Fairways are narrow, but can be forgiving as long as you don’t get into heather areas. Highly recommend putting this on the hot list.
Wonderful course
The Fortress is a beautiful course in immaculate condition. From tee boxes, sand traps, flower beds and greens, everything is in place. The trip to Frankenmuth is well worth it!
Change the OINS!
There must have been or there was going to be some kind of tournament at the course, because the PINs were all in impossible places to get too. It was like playing the day after a 4 man scramble tough hole tournament. I am a single digit handicap player and it was not enjoyable even for me to play to PINs tucked away like they were.
The Fortress
Played on May 28th. Got out early as I had family here with me! Course was simply excellent. Greens were tour quality. Maintenance staff were courteous and friendly. Pro was very nice also. Had just a great time. Price was a little high for me but the overall experience was worth it. i think the price goes down to $70 during the week which is fair. Play it if you are in the area!!
Pretty course
Very nice course , good greens . But it's not a 90.00 course , overpriced
