We will be back for sure!!!
Overall excellent if we could leave 100⭐ review we would. The staff was excellent exceptionally friendly and helpful and very generous with hospitality. Very well maintained. I would personally live on this course if I could. I can not wait to come back!
I drove 5 hours to play here
I drove from Wisconsin to play here off of the golf digest recommendation and I was over joyed when I arrived. They are More than friendly. Helped out with tips before I hit the course. And the drinks and almost nothing. Will be making the trip again soon. You guys rock.
Scenic course
We arrived well ahead of our tee time because we were not sure how long it would take to get there from the Twin Cities.
We were greeted by a friendly staff who allowed us to tee off early.
The course has a lot of holes with major elevation changes, and amazing views.
Wouldn’t walk it, but it was a fun change of pace.
Bad timing...
Left after 3 holes, was going on 1hr and 15mins and the 4th tee box didnt even tee off yet, and the group ahead of them just got on the green. What i did play the course seemed good shape, greens were in great shape. Just angry i drove an hour to play just to pack up and leave. Another downfall is they have no driving range or a place to warm up besides putting.
Lives up to its reputation
A real treat to finally play this historical old course. Excellent condition, really nice greens that play faster than the greens I'm used to in the South Metro public courses. Mature hardwood trees define most of the fairways and can make you pay with a punch out to get back into play, but on most of those holes you feel like you had a fair chance of hitting the fairway and the miss was on you.
First timers: if you aren't experienced in adjusting club selections for elevation changes, you might want to go in with a mindset of just enjoying the experience and tearing up the scorecard. There are many holes where you're hitting up or down significantly to the green. To compound that on the uphill shots, you sometimes may not be quite sure about the shape and size of the green or where a good miss would be. Good fun, bad scores :)
Another thing that might get first timers is how to play some of the less-than-driver tee shots on dogleg Holes #8 and #14 especially, and possibly #16 and #17 for bigger hitters. I think course experience would help immensely on those. The tee shot on #8 is one of the more intimidating shots you'll come across. You're coming out of chute in the woods that feels about twenty yards wide to a landing area that looks from the tee to be about the size of a green. Dense woods the whole way left, right, and long, and you need about 200 yards to get to the right angle dogleg and have a clear second shot.
My group of first-timers loved the front 9 layout (except for #8) and weren't quite as favorable to the back 9 because of the layout of the holes mentioned above. But it won't keep us from coming back.
One more thing - hats off to you if you walk 18 on this course. You must be in terrific shape!
This course is a gem. I look forward to playing again.
One of the best in Minnesota
Challenging layout but still approachable. Affordable and well maintained
Challenging layout
The greens were quick and fairways had most of the leaves cleared, so very playable. The staff was very cordial and accommodating.. Enjoyed our round, thanks!
Great shape
The red wing golf course is in amazing shape. The leaf cleanup and cleanliness of the fairways, bunkers and greens were in above average condition. I will recommend this course to all my friends and family in the future. To see a full crew working hard on a Saturday told me this course takes pride in its appearance.
Tight course
Tight course hardest 6200 yard course I have played
Red Wing Country Club Beauty
RWCC is consistently in great shape. Our play on 10/320 was no exception. Leaves were picked up, greens were fast and fairways in great shape. The remodeled clubhouse looks fabulous and the expanded event area is awesome. The staff was courteous and helpful with carts, sign in and play; ready to go. Terrific experience!
Greens are in great condition
Beautiful day for golf. Great service no leaves and course in
Great condition
