Sugar Creek Golf Course offers some of the best scenery of any course in the St. Louis area. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the course's elevated tees. The course opened in 1990 with several improvements made in the following years. The layout is a manageable length at just under 6,100 yards. It is player-friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence but there are also challenges in store for more advanced players. Water only comes into play on one hole but there are stands of trees lining the narrow fairways. The golf course will generously reward accuracy and good strategy though it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. In addition to the course, Sugar Creek G.C. also boasts an expansive practice range with 35 hitting stations.

AMAZING!!

WOW... where do I begin?! Before I even got on the green, I immediately felt welcomed by the staff. They were very friendly. I got a chance to meet Mr.Webbie, the GM, and he made me feel at home; As a fairly new golfer, this was very important to me. The course was taken care of incredibly well- super bright green and was very clean. There is a 110% chance I play here again!

Absolutely play this course!

This is probably the most fun course to play around St. Louis.

There are a good mixture of challenging holes with narrower fairways and then a couple shorter par 4s that you can really go after.

So many of the tee shots you are high up on a hill looking down at the fairway and greens. You get to watch your ball soar forever when you hit it.

The greens were probably the best kept greens I’ve played this year. For the price you can’t beat it.

100% recommend! Excellent condition course and you can tell they put a ton of work in to it.

Great Course

First time playing here and it was a great experience. Has some awesome holes with major elevation change and some tough winding holes as well which are all fun to play. Tee box’s, fairways, and greens are all in great shape. At $25 for a weekday round, I don’t think you find a better value anywhere around STL. Highly recommend giving this course a go!

Course very much improved, great value

This course is greatly improved since the last time I played it a few years ago. The staff was working hard on it while I was playing today. Drainage system being installed on hole 15. Met Sarcus, the new owner, and much of the staff and their attitudes are wonderful. They are excited about the improved conditions of the course and the future appears bright for Sugar Creek. I was so impressed that I bought a membership, $1200 for all the golf you can play with a cart and free range balls for one year (prorated cost for me because I purchased in July-good until the end of the year). I recommend giving Sugar Creek a try!

Good value for money but…

We enjoyed the outing. PROS - friendly staff, very affordable, creative design. CONS - recent rains have taken a toll on this course. One of the par 5s playing as par 3 due to significant repairs to fairway. Lots of visible water in bunkers and low area. Cart paths way overdue for replacement. All in all, we enjoyed it.

Affordable and beautiful

Started as the first teatime of the day. Course is beautiful from first tee to last hole. Only downside to this course was the car path is gravel and many places as well as broken asphalt. Besides from that the grass was much better than any course at this price I’ve seen so far in St. Louis with very little patching and very consistent lies.

Adventurous

As I woke up in modest earliest morning I decided to go out and golf here. The workers welcomed and provided the most hospitality that anyone has ever given. The hills and courses made my golfing journey spectacular, in creating a well-done, professional site. I would recommend this course to all challengers to give their very best in beating every hole. I loved every bit of this course in imaging an amazingly and organized course. The hills and the interesting courses provided many unique challenges.

This course was great

This course had a very unique build to the novice golfer like me. It was fun to try and shoot up and down these giant hills. My only small complaint is that the sprinklers were delaying pace of play slightly but this was mostly a non-issue. Other than that this has been my best experience on a golf course in STL. The staff is also super friendly!

Overall, a good course for the money

I've played this course several times and it gets marginally better each time. Some of the tee boxes were a bit bare and with the lack of rain, were rock-hard. Fairways and greens were in great shape. The biggest knock is on the cart paths. They all need to be ripped up and rebuilt - lots of broken-up asphalt and potholes. But the price is reasonable for the quality of the course.

Best staff… improved course

Played this course Saturday with my girlfriend and my friend. The greens were in great shape and so were the fairways. The tee boxes could use a little work but overall the course looked good. It was really hot and there were no water stations due to “Covid” which was unfortunate.

The best part of this experience was the staff. From the time you check in to the the time you turn your cart in, the staff is super passionate and friendly. The owner went out of his way to talk to us and ensure we were having a good time. This course is on it’s way to becoming a hidden gem!

BEST SUGAR CREEK HAS BEEN IN 25 YEARS!

I played Sugar Creek on 6/12 with a group of 4. I've been playing this course since the mid-90s as a teenager. While I have always loved the course because of the fun layout (uphill par 3, peninsula par 3 green, etc.) this is by FAR the best the course has ever looked, condition-wise. Well-marked and manicured. Drinks on the patio after the round made it one to remember! HIGHLY-recommend!

Amazing

Wonderful experience with a great and fun course. Amazing lay out and well kept. One of the best staffs I have encountered. The owner was a genuinely amazing guy who was really outgoing. The best course I’ve played at all summer. No doubt will come back in the near future.
