Sugar Creek Golf Course
About
Sugar Creek Golf Course offers some of the best scenery of any course in the St. Louis area. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the course's elevated tees. The course opened in 1990 with several improvements made in the following years. The layout is a manageable length at just under 6,100 yards. It is player-friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence but there are also challenges in store for more advanced players. Water only comes into play on one hole but there are stands of trees lining the narrow fairways. The golf course will generously reward accuracy and good strategy though it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. In addition to the course, Sugar Creek G.C. also boasts an expansive practice range with 35 hitting stations.

Great management and staff as well as course.
Tee boxes might have need a little work here and there but over all fantastic experience. Great fairways and greens. Like I stated tee boxes were great but need a little touch up. But who’s course doesn’t.
Great driving range
Not only has the course made great improvements, but the driving range has never looked better...it's a real range now for all golf skill levels....the staff has obviously put a lot of work into the range...and, it's the only range in the area.
Driving range
What a bonus the driving range has become at sugar creek...it's never looked better. It is now a real driving range for all golf skill levels...it's obvious they have put a lot of work into the range (and there is not another range available in the area).
Driving range
Not only has the course at sugar creek improved amazingly,...but the driving range has never looked better..it's now a real range for all golf skill levels. It's clear they have really put some work into the entire
facility. (And, there is no other driving range around the area.)
No Cart
I have played this course multiple times over the years every year. Their new policy of not providing carts if your t time is booked through Golfnow is a bad decision. I was told you could get a cart even if you booked through GolfNow, but they charge $20 for 18 holes. That was twice as much as I paid for the greens fees that day via GolfNow. This course would be a difficult course to walk for most people. The walk from 9 green to 10 tee would require I call an Uber. I like this course, but there are plenty of places to play that are better and do provide a cart via bookings through GolfNow. I played there last week and that will be my last time until this changes. My friends and I played there many, many times when the course was in terrible shape, and this is the thanks we get. Try Paradise Valley, Pevely Farms or Crescent. Better courses for less money under the current set up. Too bad.
Outstanding
I come here all the time with my friends to play. Great course for a great price.
Friendly Service
We purchased the “Hot Deal” which was a great price but then we were charged $15 per person for the cart. The carts did not work well and the cart path is in awful condition. Way to much money for the condition. Many tee boxes were rough. Fairways were ok and greens were ok. The staff is super friendly. Overall golf conditions were just ok for the cost.
Very impressed and clear the owner has put a lot of work into the course over the past 5 years! Definitely will be back to play again.
A Tremendous Experience
My friend and I played 9 holes and had a great time. The gentleman in the clubhouse was very attentive and welcoming. The course was very well kept thanks to the grounds crew who have to maintain a huge area. We had the chance to meet the Owner, who introduced himself to us and was super kind and personable. Overall, I truly recommend Sugar Creek because of the great people who work there and the sheer quality of the course itself.
Can't wait for next time!
SugarCreek is back!
I’ve been playing this course for years and I’m glad to see that it is finally back in great conditions. Greens are amazing and the fairways just keep get better. The staff is always super friendly. Highly recommend you come back and play it for yourself if you haven’t in a while.
The course was in fair condition the day we played. The rough could have been cut shorter, but I don’t know if they were waiting another day or whatever for the holiday.
The staff was amazingly friendly.
We borrowed a left hand set club. It was a very tired driver that needs to be replaced. Although it was $10 to rent and a left hand set- beggars can’t be choosy in the time of Covid.
A Must Play Course
Outstanding course with greens that are as good as anywhere in town. Excellent value with beautiful views and a varitey of holes which makes it fun and the view are great. The staff is second to none and and there is no course in town for the value that beats it. A must play!
Perfect for casual golfers
Perfect course for casual players to get on. Great staff. Great treatment to customers. Great hole creativity because design is unusual, and it has some fun holes you don't see in many other courses. Alot of pars and birdies possible, and greens are great. Cart paths and fairways are ugly but new owners are improving everything they can.
Can't beat the quality of the greens and picsturesque
I have been to several course in the area and keep coming back to Sugar Creek. The greens and fairways are awesome and no one can beat the value of a round at the course. The staff is fabulous and I will keep coming back for years to come.
Sugar Creek Golf
I have recently moved to Ballwin and I got to play 18 at sugar creek for the first time today, it was great. The course is in great condition with plenty of awesome hole layouts and it’s pristine greens make for a great day on the golf course. Grant was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of the course. I look forward to booking my next tee time at Sugar Creek soon.
Cart paths
If I had to give a letter grade it would be an F. The paths are terrible or non existent. Also the course is very hilly
Poor Experience
First, let me say that the course employees were absolutely wonderful as were the clubhouse and course vistas, but all that was ruined by the state of the course and unbelievably slow pace of play.
First off, the course. They should be ashamed of both having the course open after such heavy rains, and in charging full price. Most every tee box was soaking wet and most fairways were so wet, you dare not miss hit a ball or you'd be covered in mud. The greens started out soaking wet, but by the time we abandoned the game at the 16th hole (after 4.5 hours) they were only dry-ish.
We (twosome) were placed between two foursomes of a senior scramble and as I said above, had to abandon the game at the 16th hole after playing for 4.5 hours.
I booked this through Golf Now, where it has a $15 (walking) fee. It was very apparent that NO ONE walks this course so they charge an additional 100% fee for the cart! Heck, you'd have a tough time walking this course back in your peak physical condition of your 20's!
So, poorly drained and utterly soaking, wet tee boxes, fairways and greens coupled with extremely slow rate of play completely soured me on this course. I will not recommend nor return for play.
