Sugar Creek Golf Course
About
Sugar Creek Golf Course offers some of the best scenery of any course in the St. Louis area. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the course's elevated tees. The course opened in 1990 with several improvements made in the following years. The layout is a manageable length at just under 6,100 yards. It is player-friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence but there are also challenges in store for more advanced players. Water only comes into play on one hole but there are stands of trees lining the narrow fairways. The golf course will generously reward accuracy and good strategy though it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. In addition to the course, Sugar Creek G.C. also boasts an expansive practice range with 35 hitting stations.

Bad conditions, not walker friendly
Cheap tee time is a plus but $15 per person for a cart rental, what they fail to tell you is that walking this course is IMPOSSIBLE! Imagine taking a hike up a mountain between every single hole, and then add carrying/pulling your clubs, not a great time. Had to throw my shoes off at one point to walk through a river built through the cart path. Plus, fairways looked not much better then your neighbors backyard and the course holds water, so lots of mud out there (try chipping your ball from the edge of the green and getting the head of the club stuck in three inches of dirt)
Best course in MO so far
Best course I have been to in MO so far! Absolutely challenging one that has a lot of up hill battles! Definitely loved every minute of it!
Who ever designed the course obviously has never played golf. And I don’t think they have a grounds crew cause there was absolutely no fairway just tee boxes and a green out in a swamped field. Easily the worst course I have ever played.
Much improved!
2nd time I have played this course and I am happy to say that it is much improved over the previous time I played.
It still has a ways to go but it is definitely worth a try.
Fantastic
Price was great! The pace of play even better! The staff is great and really friendly! I would recommend to anyone to come play this coarse!
Great course and staff!
I went to this course a couple of times last year after getting back into golfing and went back to it for my first round this season. I love this course. It is a great value for your money and the staff is always very friendly. The owner even talked with us while we grabbed a bite to eat between the front and back 9’s. Would recommend to everyone and will be going back many times again this season!
Awesome course!
Everything about this course is great! The staff was beyond friendly and the course was very nice! Will definitely be coming here more often!
Great layout
Great Layout, greens need work but it’s February so that’s expected. Amazing value on the hot deal though. Will be coming back
Very good value for winter golf
Price was right and course was in good condition for February golf.
Totally different place than it used to be!
New owner is really working hard to turn that place around, some of the greens still need just a little bit of work, but overall an awesome course. Course by itself is interesting and challenging with all types of holes, will definitely keep you entertained!
Good value. Course improving.
The greens are in very good shape. A little shaggy this time of year, to be expected. PLEASE repair your ball marks.
Fairways and tees need work next. The zoysia parts are in good shape, but kind of sparse in areas.
First time playing this course in many years. As others have noted, the management is making a concerted effort to fix many years of neglect. Keep up the good work.
Nice layout. A lot of elevation changes. Pretty forgiving course. Nice scenery throughout.
Undeniable improvement
Huge improvement just within one season. New management definitely working hard to improve course conditions. Played on a Wednesday and about half the holes were being actively worked on in some capacity (as you should expect midweek); the workers were aware of golfers and did not cause disruption. Owner introduced himself and asked for our feedback.
I would encourage others to take advantage of the still competitive rates while available in order to gauge the progress for themselves. I'm not saying there isnt work to be done, but credit where credit is due. They are trying to correct previous management's problems.
Great Value and Setup
This course has come a long way under new ownership. Greens have drastically improved throughout season. Like the setup with lots of elevation differences and a mix of challenging holes with ones you can go after. One of the best values in St Louis region and only expect course conditions to continue to improve. Would recommend giving it a try if you haven't.
Fun course
Fun course to play. Get a mix of flat open holes and then some holes are very hilly. At the turn I met the owner, and he along with his staff were very nice and appreciative. I would recommend playing here, when you get a chance. This is my third time, and the new owner is improving/maintaining the course.
Hard work paying off
I have been playing here for years. Before the new management took over the course was in rough shape. Over the past couple years this course has improved dramatically. The greens were outstanding , the fairways were clean, and the pace was good just very busy. I will continue to golf here!!
Progressively better
A work in progress. New ownership has made changes for the better over last few years. Greens have made huge strides. With continued care, a lot of potential for a good local course. Looking forward to see it in its prime next summer. Very friendly staff.
Definitely Worth Checking Out!
Sugar Creek is in the best shape I've seen for years! They continue making big improvements to the course, including recent smoothing, vertislicing and overseeding the greens, which all rolled beautifully & looked nearly perfect. It also looked like the practice green was being completely redone. (Now it would be great if golfers helped keep the greens nice by fixing their own ball marks! I played behind a foursome of "members" who didn't fix one ball mark all day.) I recommend Sugar Creek to people all the time because I really do think it's a fun and challenging golf course that you can play for a good price.
