Sugar Creek Golf Course
About
Sugar Creek Golf Course offers some of the best scenery of any course in the St. Louis area. Golfers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside from the course's elevated tees. The course opened in 1990 with several improvements made in the following years. The layout is a manageable length at just under 6,100 yards. It is player-friendly enough for beginners to approach with confidence but there are also challenges in store for more advanced players. Water only comes into play on one hole but there are stands of trees lining the narrow fairways. The golf course will generously reward accuracy and good strategy though it is not overly punishing if you are slightly errant. In addition to the course, Sugar Creek G.C. also boasts an expansive practice range with 35 hitting stations.

Greens much better.
Only 1 green still closed. The others are in much better shape than they were. But this is Sugar Creek. But we enjoy this course and will keep coming back.
Nice course but....
Loved the course but the greens were horrible. But still beautiful course and nice staff.
Course to ourselves
Didn't see another golfer to the 16th hole. Just us and the deer. Great time.
needs work
the course is in rough shape. but they are working on it and making improvements. the greens are in rough shape. 6 & 18 are closed and they have a temp green set up. it needs time to heal
Terrible
Usually I don’t give a review of this nature. Unfortunately, this was hands down the worst course I have played this year. You cannot putt on most greens. The crabgrass has overtaken them so drastically, you simply cannot putt. The same goes for the fairways, however they are only moderately affected. The cart path is destroyed, which frankly I don’t care about. The staff was extremely friendly, with food and drinks available. They were absolutely great. Regardless, I’m sorry, this was an outing I could have done without.
Coming back
Have played here a dozen times in the last year. Place just keeps drawing us back.
Coming Along. . . .
They are making progress with the conditions of the course. I wasn't sure what to expect with some of the recent reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised to see good conditions on most all holes throughout my round. The greens will need some crabgrass treatment as the crabgrass has over-powered many of the greens.
Good and bad
I really like the layout of this course. Their greens were rough last year but they brought them around. But now it seems that crabgrass has encroached upon their greens and they need to figure that out. I appreciate the fact that the fairways are getting stronger
Great Layout, Horrible condition
Had a 9:30 tee time, maybe 14 cars in the parking lot when we arrived. We were able to tee off early and besides the single we let go in front of us only ran into one other group on the course. Tee boxes were either average or poor condition wise. Lots of bare spots or ones that were not mowed and overgrown with wire grass. Rough was in average condition, needed to be mowed. Fairways and greens were "green" for the most part, with a variety of grasses. Fairways had rough patches but overall average. Greens were well below average, lots of patches on the edge of dying out, lots of crab grass mixed in with the bent, slow speeds, randomly chosen on which ones were cut, and the 18th was almost completely taken over by bermuda. Sadly, it putted the best of all of them. Love the layout and the staff is great, but the playability is just not there at the moment.
Great Course. Great Staff. Great Price
I've played this course 3 times in the last month.
The staff are incredibly nice, the pace of play is pretty good, the course conditions are great and ever-improving, and for the money you won't find a better value in the STL area.
Would highly recommend checking out Sugar Creek!
Improving
I see a lot of work going on to improve the course. Give it time.
Ton of bang for your buck
Super friendly staff, pretty and challenging course. Well worth the cost of a round.
Decent
I think it is improving, but I think it is still a year or two out from being worth playing. Fairways have grass, but also a lot of weeds and crabgrass, and they aren’t real thick. The greens look good from the course, until you get on them. They are very furry, slow, and bumpy. Luckily they have it priced decent, but I think it would be worth paying an extra 10 or 15 to go to a nicer course until they make some more improvements.
This is one of my favorite courses to play. The staff is great and the course is unique. It is very reasonably priced too! I would recommend Sugar Creek.
