Appearence
Old course is exactly that. Some fairway issues but not enough that you can't drop and play from better areas.Greens are great with the exception of way too many ball marks. That's on the golfers not the course. Cart paths have seen their better days along with yardage markers. Still a fair track but would not pay top dollar. Young cart guy seemed to be lost when I asked for direction to #1. He also was sitting on a cart at the barn when I finished checking out his Cell phone. Not so much as a how did it go or let me help you with your Bag. I have worked a few courses and there is always something for cart barn staff to do. Etiquette Folks!
Poorly taken care of
This is a badly taken car of course. Weeds are everywhere, cart path is horrendous it's Literally like going off roading. Groundskeepers must be sleeping on the job because the greens and tee boxes are a joke. Divots everywhere. This course is laughable actually.
Well kept and friendly
Very nice course and very nice workers . Kept up and clean
More courses
Would love to see Richmond forest on the list of golf courses
Nice Course
It has a little of everything . Always fun as long as the pace of play is good. Sometimes can be very slow, which is caused by over booking.
Old-style parkland layout
The Old Oaks course is like a lot of older SE Michigan parkland courses, as opposed to more recent ones, which seem to be built on land unsuitable for residential development. Easily accessed, right off I-94. If you like Rackham, Kensington Park, or the late Wolverine, you'll probably like this course. The turf and greens are pretty good for a modestly priced track, with a few bare areas in low spots, and a couple of tees whose grass is a little sparse. Your putts will roll instead of bounce. #7 's fairway can be boggy. There is a good mix of holes, including a few drive and pitch par-fours, a short par-five, and a long par five. Par is 71, with 5 par-3's. You'll get a chance to use a lot of the clubs in your bag. Pace of play during a weekday was decent. I thought I'd be put in a foursome, but played solo behind two who didn't want to be joined (and in front of two who declined my offer to join me), but who let me thru at #15, and finished in just over 3 hrs.
From what I could see, there is no dress code.
A MDOC prison is right next door and their announcements are audible.
There are hot deals as low as $13, plus the "convenience fee."
Good course for the money
The course was in good shape for its use and the weather we've had recently. My only issue was there wasn't a ranger to keep the one or two groups forcing the slower pace of play from lagging.
excellent course
After 3 days of rain the course was in great condition. In my opinion its the best course in the area.
God deal for the money
Course was really good for the price we paid. Fairly open and flat. Perfect ffort the first round of the year
fast greens
Played several times. Accuracy is key on several holes, not many you can spray the tee shot.
Hole 7 has a big tree on the left with overhanging branches that could come into play on the tee shot. Note to course: Those branches need to come down.
Greens were in great shape and surprisingly fast this late in the season.
A round can be slow, up to 5 hours when it is crowded but the price can make up for some of that. Not much in the way of rangers. Management can be accommodating.
Over all a good course to play.
one of my favorites in macomb county
Excellent golf course for a beginner or intermediate player. Has a little bit of everything, some wide open holes, dog legs , water , and wooded holes. Club house has a great environment with a friendly staff. Only small complaints would be cart paths are rough and the tee boxes were a bit beat up.
Excellent round
Course was in fantastic shape. Very few leaves to bother with, great place of play. Staff, as always, were wonderful.
Very nice course
This course is good for begainers and is also challenging enough for the intermediate golfer.
I will try to play there again. We had a foursome with differnt experience and we all enjoyed ourself.
Nice course, great price
Very nice course, great pace of play, great price.
