Was a great course at one time
Certainly, the golfers that do not repair their ball marks are to blame, but perhaps the staff is as well. The greens were terrible due to unrepaired ball marks.
The cart paths are horrible! Please repave them!
I have played this course several time a year for the past several years. The course is getting progressively worse each time.
The mosquitos are in force. Takes the fun out of golf.
Bring your mosquitoe spray!
I've golfed the Old Oaks course dozens of times. This was by far in the worst shape I've ever seen. The mowers left clumps of grass up and down the fairways. The rough was full of weeds and was U.S. open day 4 in length. But the worst part were the mosquitoes. Every stroke was affected by mosquitoes in one way or another. My arms feel like a braile dictionary I was bitten so many times. Being a high handicapped golfer, I enjoy the Old Oaks course because it's a familiar course and I know how it plays. However, I won't be going back anytime soon as I was very disappointed in upkeep.
Begging golfers to repair a ball mark
Many greens are very bumpy from countless unrepaired ball marks . Repair a couple ball marks
each green and rolling your ball would be up to your stroke . Other than that water hazards can't be seen from the t-box ,look for red stakes and score card layout. Fun little course .Took 77 strokes from back tees ,play often, first time playing this track . Father likes it . And that's what's most important
Pathetic
Mud/soil/dirt in the fairways looks like it hasn't been cut this year the tee boxes are weed patches/ sand boxes& the cart path and the bunkers where made using the same materials . Absolutely disgusting. Will not be going back.
No Rain Checks
Took a group of 8 here. Weather was good when we started and then the rain started. Finished 8 holes and headed to the clubhouse only to have several people leaving upset due to the fact that there was no rain check options and very rude staff. Understandable the weather was bad but no where does it state no rain checks. Group of 8 spread the word and will not be back.
Oak Ridge
Fairways and greens in very good shape. No back ups or bottlenecks.
Nice course
Tough first time through, I will do better next time.
Surprised
I hadn't played here in about 4 years but am happy to say that the course was in excellent condition. Fairways were beautiful. Greens rolled true. I was impressed and will be playing here again soon.
Old Oaks always a good time
I have played here since the mid 1970's. Every round has offered a challenge. The staff members are friendly and accommodating and the hot dogs are great!
Oaks Golf Course
Greens are a challenge. Back nine is a challenge.
Excellent Course - Challenging but fair
Marsh Oaks is a great course and staff is friendly and accommodating. This is the 2nd time I have played the course this year and it was in great shape both times. There are some risk reward holes, and those that you just need to hit a good shot or pay the price. Greens are consistent and well maintained. Will keep this one in the rotation.
First time at Oak Ridge was fun!
Came here for the first time last weekend and really enjoyed the course. We played on the Old Course and although the course wasn't overly challenging, it was still fun to golf at.
The course reminds me a bit of Maple Lanes, where there aren't a ton of hazards and have many wide open fairways. I imagine that experienced golfers would be able to play this course easily. The staff is hands down the most helpful that I have seen in a long time.
Also a practice range was very good before we started our round. Mind as well get the bad shots out of the way early!
My biggest complaint were the tee boxes, which appeared to have more sand then grass on them at times. Was hard to get footing down off of the tees many of the times.
Course Conditions Terrible
I have played this course 10-15 times with this being the first time in about 2-3 years. The condition of the Tee-Boxes and Fairways was horrendous. There were MULTIPLE tee-boxes with dandelions between tee-markers 5-6" high. There are over-grown trees on the left-side of the tee-box on #3 and #7 preventing you from playing the tips unless you can aim 40 yards right and hit a sling hook back into the fairway. I've played holes with obstructed tee-shots before that make the shot challenging... This was not one of those circumstances. The tree on #3 blocks 95% of the view from the tips and is only about 30 yards in front of the tee-box preventing you from going over it. It is much the same on #7 where you have to hit a stinger unless you sling-hook it. The greens were okay but had recently been aerated which I found a tad surprising on May 21st and we were not warned about it ahead of time. It is obvious they stopped taking care of this course which is a shame because it used to be one of the top courses around. I had a buddy drive out from Livonia to play with me and I was embarrassed by the conditions he was greeted with. I would NOT recommend this course to anybody at this point until they get their act together.
Always decent
Pretty good course; very reasonable rates; friendly staff. The bunkers that have the newer sand are very nice, but they need to fill in the rest.
This course is a good average course
Glad I can use golf now to book morning tee times for courses with only a days notice
Good value, as longa as you have time/patience
Every time I've played this course (avg. 4-5 times a year throughout the season) I've had a terribly-long wait during the first few holes. There have been lines of 4-5 groups waiting on the first tee, making it take up to an hour to finish the first two holes. After hole #4 it really opens up and the pace returns to normal, but patience is required at the beginning. The course was in great shape for the first good weekend of the season (mid-April), although the greens were rough and in progress for being groomed (lot of holes from aeration), so putting wasn't usual (but the greens usually look great by the end of May and play well for amateurs). Overall a good value for the fair course quality.
Nice people!! Challenging holes!
Nice course but the pathway for the carts are EXTREMELY ROUGH!! Marsh Oaks is 10 times worse so have your Irons and drivers covered for protection. Going to the 2nd hole buy the freeway be careful of a big bump if you have a disk problem in your back.
Front nine is less Challenging than Back nine
Greens had been aerated. Must have been short on sand back dressing. Summer greens likely good.
It had rained the night before and the gravel parking lot was full of pot holes, mud and water.
Really long tough 18th hole.
In general, I enjoyed the course.
Accuracy over length! Good greens.
Nice course. Tight and open holes. Lots of water. Good greens for late October. $10 for 18 w cart good deal! You don't to be overly long but accuracy is rewarded as there are some tight driving holes including 18.
Ok course
Similar priced courses were in better shape and better facilities. Beverage cart was seen plenty of times so that was not an issue. Course conditions were below average because of the number people playing the course. Divots not repaired and greens with ball marks. If the price was lower I would play the course again.
