Worth the drive
I live is St. Louis and for the price, the 50 minute drive is well worth it. Layout gives enough of a challenge for more advanced golfers despite the lack of great length. Best course for the value in St. Charles/Lincoln counties.
awesome back 9
cheap, friendly and the layout is awesome! 10/10 the best course around Lincoln county, would play here again
Fairways. Thin
Fairways and roughs are a little thin but the course layout is excellent and overall experience was terrific. I would recommend to anyone who wants to have a good time.
I have always liked the course. It is in great shape.
Using golf now really was easy and great rates. Booking was easy. Walked in and gave my name and we were on our way.
Fun, Fun, Fun
Open course with many blind shots. Layout is unlike any other in St. Louis. Greens are semifast that have unique undulations to the typical area course. Truly enjoyed playing... so much so we are going back in a few days. Only issue is the many "fresh" ball marks on the greens; may have been caused by the Womens High School tournament that played earlier in the day; Ladies - repair your ball marks.
Great Course
We really enjoyed Woods Fort golf course. The tee boxes were immaculate and the fairways, despite all the rain, were in good shape. Greens were challenging but very nice.
We enjoyed are round at Woods Fort Golf Course and will definitely play there again!!
Great course
I've played several courses here in Missouri since moving here, and it's in my top 3. Well kept and inexpensive!
Dramatically Improved!! Play this Course!!!
New ownership has turned thisAvergae Golf Course into a Wonderful Very Playable Course! Course, Conditions were Very Much improved since the last time I played here a couple of years ago. Greens are Very Nice, Roll Well and are in Great Shape. Try this Course you'll be glad you did.
Always a good time at Woods Fort.
Tee boxes are in great shape. Wr always enjoy playing here even though it is almost an hour ride from home.
Hot round of golf
I understand that it cost more to golf on the weekends but , the grass length should not interfere with your play.
Tough but enjoyable
Course was in great shape and very reasonably priced. Cousre is challenging especially if you have never played there due to a number of blind shots to greens guarded by ponds and bunker that you don't see.
Much Improved
The course was in very good shape. The fairways had recovered nicely from being striped, and the green rolled quick and true. Also a few layout changes were nice to see. The course isn't too difficult but still provides enough challenge to keep you from getting bored.
Tremendous upgrade
The course went through some major changes over the last year. For those of you who remember how bad it was will be pleasantly surprised how great it is now. The addition of a pond on #11 will definitely make you take pause in going for this par5 in two. The new tee box on #12 and the addition of another pond changes this hole from any easy par3 at 120 yards to a demanding tee shot from 165 yards. The zoysia fairways are starting to spread but it will take a little longer with a HOT summer. Bunkers have been redone, grass mounds have been added and approximately 900 new trees. Rumor has it that they will be adding another 500 trees to tighten the course up as well as, more bunkers and mounds to be added this winter. The greens were absolutely despicable last year but the superintendent has done a superior job in not only restoring them, but increasing the speed that will definitely make you take notice. Great job, keep up the good work and hit'em straight.
Hole 11. It's good size par five that puts with question to go for it in 2 or lay up because of lake right in front of green.
The course if pretty nice. Once all the new grass comes in I think it will be an extremely nice course. If there is one thing they need. It would be more marking as to where u are on each hole.
Greens were in poor condition, fairways in repair.
The course was under repair in several spots. One hole had a water hazard added but not reflected on scorecard or map. The greens (74%) were burned and bare in several spots. The fairway was under repair with zoysia strips mixed with crabgrass. On one hole the fairway was cut to show a dogleg right but the hole actually was straight out with a couple huge trees blocking view of green. Pace of play was good.
Course needs work
I have been twice this year and both time were very disappointing. The first time was the day they had their owner’s tournament and even then the course was in horrific shape, greens were burnt up and the fairway was almost as thick as the rough making your ball difficult to find even in the fairway. Also course management was hard as there were very few yardage markers. The second time you could tell they have spent some money on some improvements “ I would guess that started after the owners saw the course in the shape it was in”. This course has potential if they continue to work at it. I may revisit in 2 years or so.
Most of the course is not in playable condition.
They are trying to upgrade the course, but the front nine is basically unplayable and should be closed to play. The back nine is a little better. Course management is making a mistake by not leaving nine holes open to play while the other nine are being upgraded instead of trying to do the whole course at one time. They have no business trying to collect a full green fee given the condition of the course.
Not good condition
No sand in bunkers, greens had several dead spots. Fairways were under construction and several holes were closed for play.
