Just okay.
Our tee time was pushed back a full hour. We were told that an outing had started too late causing the delay. The staff was at least cordial about it. When we finally made it out, the pace of play was poor. We ended up only playing 9 holes because we had already been on the course for close to three hours. I probably would have enjoyed the round a little more had we not spent a total of four hours at the course, only to play 9 holes. The course itself is fair. The conditions are pretty rustic with only average upkeep in the fairways, rough, bunkers, etc. I enjoyed a few of the holes, but others were unremarkable.
much improved
Best condition the course has ever been in. Always was a good layout, now with the improved condition and the low price, this course is a must play.
Beautiful layout and very scenic
My only negative comment would be the poor condition of the tee-offs. They need some attention and this is the perfect time of year to address this matter.
Fantastic
Loved it. Very fast pace of play. Not many out there. Very well kept grounds. Challenging course. Not horribly challenging but definitely not easy.
Much improved
I have played this course many times over the last 20 years or so. It is in the best condition I have ever seen. This is a great value.
Rattle Run
Great time with my friends,I'm glad too have picked this course to show my friends how good it is,I wish they had tee blocks between 6000 and 5300 but we could have alternated .the course was in great shape other than a couple of tee boxes
Quiet, fast and a challenge
Greens were like lightening. No one on the course it seemed l, but us. Address in email link incorrect.
Love This Course
It was great today, the course except for a couple of par 3 tee boxes was in excellent shape and it has that up north feeling. This was by far the best I have seen the course in years. It is a nice test of golf, you have to work the ball on a few holes to score.
Up north feel
Course is in the best shape in over twenty years.layout is challenging and enjoyable.
Course Marshals need training
We played as a foursome on June 4 and had an experience that will stop us from returning.
On numerous occasions we had the course marshals telling us to speed things up even though there was never anyone waiting behind us. We were surrounded by twosomes and threesomes and so there was a gap of maybe 1 hole in front of us but never more.
If there was an issue maybe it was 2 or 3 groups behind us but definitely not us.
When we were done I checked my watch and we finished the round in 4 hours and 15 minutes. I don't know what these marshals were thinking but I think that is pretty fast for 18 holes.
After being treated like this we will not be coming back and that is too bad because the course is in the best shape we have ever seen.
rattle run rain
great course nice design got hit with a torrential downpour after nine so could not finish, but really enjoyed this course
The course was in excellent shape considering the amount of rain that fell a week before.
The course layout penalizes bad shots due to the ditches. Some elevation changes make you think about club selection. Sand traps now have sand in them (didn't 2 years ago). Several tees are being rebuilt and new grass being grown. Several workers cleaning debris and general maintenance. Looks like they intend on bringing this course back to pristine condition.
Will definitely play again.
Very friendly staff. Course has a Northern Michigan feel to it.
Anything to make a buck!
So I wanted to get a round in early on morning of my birthday. I checked out some hot deals in the area and saw one for rattle run. Reasonably priced about 40 miles away. The selling point was the 0804 tee time because of commitments later in the day. I got there an hour early to warm up. Nobody was there... ok I get it sunday morning. Looked around a little bit and saw a lot of lakes. At 0750 I call the phone number... got someone to answer telling me that someone will hopefully be there at 0800. I told him that I had a tee time at 0804 and that's interesting that someone would be coming in 4 minutes before the tee time. 0756 a gentleman pulled up and opened the pro shop. I told him that I had a 0804 tee time from golf now. Put me in the computer and asked me if I knew were hole number 11 was located. I said "no" first time here... he gave me directions and I asked why wasn't I starting at number 1. He asked if I saw the lake I said yes... he told me that's actually number one and that the only holes open were 9 and 11 - 18. The course ended up being a wreck. I get that we have had some rough weather however if you knew days prior that the course was in such bad shape why still put out tee times, especially on golf now. It was memorable birthday golf outing.... however not in a good way.
Great Fall Golf Value
First time playing. Very good routing forcing you to hit most clubs in your bag. A couple short doglegs that are tough to judge distance, but the scorecard assists you in that.
Conditions were great for a late October round. Only negative were the tee boxes which were wet and muddy. It made finding a solid stance difficult sometimes. I talked to the pro after the round and he understood the frustration and said that is one of the main fixes in store for 2017 - great to hear.
I would still play here
Even though some of the tee boxes were not in good shape (standing in dirt/mud) this course is always enjoyable to play. I play here at least three to four times a season.
