About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Another Great Round
Mattawang is always in good shape and the staff is the friendliest of all the courses we play. We always feel at home at Mattawang
Last minute round
Booked a last minute game. Played with a friend for his birthday round. Overcast day but cool enough. Course is in decent shape.
Always a great day!!
We had a great day at Mattawang course was in great shape. The staff is super friendly, only thing that went wrong was the heavens opened up after 9 holes and we couldn’t complete our round. We’ll be there again next week!!
Quick pace - easy to walk - cart option too
Staff was super nice upon check in. Let us go ahead of a group with a tee time before us because they were not ready to play. We had tee time of 1139am on a Monday; course was being played by many groups, including what seemed to be some LPGA caddies & golfers. Pace was super fast … we finished front 9 in an hour and 15 minutes. Course itself has some well placed water hazards & sand traps which gives the course a bit more difficulty. Overall, not a “tough” course to play but certainly very enjoyable. Pace of play for a weekday was much better than Green Knoll 20 minutes north.
Nice Course
This is one of the nicer courses in NJ. Must keep the ball inbounds.
Fun Course
Only issue with the course was all the water stations were empty. Need water out there especially on hot muggy days like this

Nice layout fairways and greens were perfect great job by the grounds keeper and crew
Great place
First time playing here and it was great!!! I am a beginner golfer and i really enjoyed the openness of the course and loved the challenge of the par 5s. I would recommend this golf course. The only negatives was we got caught up behind a group of people who were at a slower pace which happens at almost every public course and also the golf carts didn’t have any distance tech on it so you couldn’t really tell how far you were from the hole on each hole but other than that the course was great and the greens and fairways were in excellent condition and every one was super friendly. Def a 4/5 for me!
Walking Round at Mattawang
Nice course to walk or ride. Given the last heat and a bit of dry conditions the grounds keepers are doing a very good job of keeping the course playable! In fact, one was out sweeping away any leaves or debris on the putting surfaces of several holes. The Starters Aaron and Joe are very friendly and personable from start to finish to make sure our day was memorable.
