About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

September fun
Played early morning with little rain showers. The course was in great shape. See you again
Mattawang Great bang for your buck
Good quality course, greens definitely rolled true. Course layout is fun and can be challenging. Definitely a course you can score on. Especially this late in the season this is a nice little hidden gem near New Brunswick/Somerset.

Great but train the grounds keeping staff.
Course and play was very good for the cost. However, the landscaping crew was incompetent. I have never had someone drive over my ball with the tractor and shoot it 50 yards back, splitting it in half when it was laying in the middle of the fairway. On at least five holes they had men with hoses, spraying down the edges of the putting green and sand traps. They hosed our ball in the sand trap, putting an under an inch of water and once they hose the gentleman I was playing with. People to understand etiquette on the course.

4.5 hour round is common on a Saturday in NJ but the ranger could have moved things along.

Had a fantastic round on Sunday morning!
Course was in tremendous shape despite bad storms for prior 3 days.
Course is in immaculate condition, second to none of all the courses we play in our rotation. Only wish they had an earlier first tee time than 8:00. We like to get out early and beat the heat during the summer.
Sunday morning fun
Played early at734 . Pace of play was great. The greens were in great condition and true. The course was in great shape condition and pretty dry fairways, with no standing water due to overnight rains. Fun times with our walk up twosome of Pete and Rick. Thanks for a great round.
