About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Lacks basic amenities.
This was once one of my favorite courses in the area. I was shocked to find no drinking water out on the course. Also there is no place to get any food. The course maintenance was average to below average. For the money there are better options in the area.

Great day for golf
Great weather. Course was busy but pace of play was moving. Course conditions are better and better every time I come back following last years drought.

Fun Track, but Punched/Sandy greens at the moment
It’s definitely a fun little track that makes you hit some shots..
Bad luck that the greens were still recovering from a punch/covered in sand, and tee boxes could be flatter with a trim.
$80 for an out of towner on a weekend - seems about right these days

Fine course, 5 hour round
Course conditions were decent, but the round was 5 hours long. My group waited on every shot from start to finish, with at least two groups in front of us doing the same
Sorry about the pace of play issues, last Sunday was a Murphy's Law day. We had a bad car accident in front of the building which caused many players to be late, start late and overall bog down. The rangers did their best.
Great golf experience
First time and really liked it. The course slowly picked up in challenge and character and I truly enjoyed. Parts of the fairways still wore scars of last years drought, but conditions were good. Will definitely come back.

Fun round
Staff was extremely nice and the course was ok. Greens were airated and not in great sharp. Course was in good condition and was fun to play

Aeration
Did not know it was being aerated and only could play front 9 twice.
Sorry you missed all the course alerts online that stated we were doing the work and you would be playing the same nine twice.
Right place, Right time
We have played Matawang quite a few times prior. Like most any public course, it could be hit or miss with the quantity of golfers and their effect on pace of play. This time we hit it just right. We were a twosome playing a late morning round (Hot Deal) paired up with another two golfers. The groups ahead and behind were spaced out nicely. There was no waiting or feeling of being rushed. We did let a single play through which did nothing to affect our comfortable three and a half hour round.
The course was (is) in great shape. Green, lush, and well manicured. The greens are firm, fast and challenging. Overall a great place to play and a great value even without a discount. The only downside is a lack of amenities in the pro shop. Matawang really could use a small bar/grill for a post round snack/drink. Still it's the right place for a great round of golf.

Great course for great value
Course looks better week after week following last years drought.
