About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Greens were good. Still a lot of dead spots on fairways from last year. Challenging course. Just to Expensive. 60 bucks for a single w cart but had to share would not give me my.own. I will play again but only hot deals
Non-flexible starter and/or clubhouse attendant
Our tee time was scheduled @ 1130a. We got there early, around 1040 am. I asked the front desk lady if we could play sooner than our tee time if possible if there was a spot. I asked the starter if we could start earlier than our tee time since we saw that was nobody playing on certain tee times. He said he was going to ask the front desk. He came back and said that since we got a Golfnow hot deal he couldn't do anything. That's a BULL...! We played other courses and they allowed us to play before our tee time if possible. Don't you like things to get moving so that there's no delay. or improve the pace of play. We played here before but this starter was the worse.
Please see below how your hot deal confirmation was worded. These times are not the golf courses nor do we receive any funds from the purchase. You booked the hot deal knowing the following information but still requested for us to break our contract. Also, it is poor for the pace of play to have two twosomes in the middle of foursomes because one two wants to go out early.

Groups of less than four (4) players WILL be paired with other pre-paid golfers. Golf Staff cannot change the tee time or honor the prepaid rate for another tee time. Great Course
The course was great so I have no complaints. The course layout is challenging and the fairways and greens were is great shape. The greens are smallish and elevated which provides protection. The course is a little hard to find but the drive is well worth it as you pass through countys founded as early as 1706. The route I took from my sister's Somerset house tool me over one lane bridges which are common on county roads which displays the rich NJ character.

Decent round after a rainy night
The tees and greens were in good shape with some of the fairways still recovering from last seasons water restrictions but overall the course was in playable shape. Unfortunately, we started behind a 8some so the pace of play was painfully slow and our 4some was frustrated by the turn and the round took us a little bit over 5 hours to finish
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. I feel it is important for the readers to realize there are never more golfers then foursomes allowed in a group. So this must mean back to back foursomes and not 8some.

Can always get tee times on golf now.

Nice greens & layout
Course was in very good shape. Greens putted true and course is challengingly long from the white tees. There is room to spray it on most holes so you can air it out. 11th tee box was closed and the temporary tees were on the side of a hill which was annoying. Th 5th fairway at the 100 yard marker was nasty but overall the fairways were pretty good. I like the course a lot and will be back for sure

The greens are true and on the fast side
The course played long..the day I played the wind effected our drives and iron shots. Small fast greens were difficult to hit..a few fairways need to be repaired.
We rolled the ball over to overcome the dead spots.

You are correct on the fairways. We had some water restrictions late last summer and the fairways have been slow to heal. There is plenty of seeding in the ground and we should be back to our normal conditions very soon.
Great course
Fairways nice and cut short, second cut and rough look fantastic. Greens rolling beautifully for this time of year!! Hidden Gem.
