About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Course was wet due to all the rain recently, but as always Mattawang did not disappoint. Love the course.
Good round in frigid temps.
Sunday was 40 with 18 mph wind -but layered up the golf was still great. Of course very few of us out there. Course is a really good option even with a 1 hour drive from Verona,NJ.
Will play through March until my county courses open.

Good play
Pretty wet due to rain the day prior. Some hole are temp tee. Overall good round
We appreciate you spending your time to play some winter golf. Temp tees and wet conditions are fairly normal this time of year. Enjoy the coming season.
Nice opening round- 2022
Beautiful weather for late February. Stuck behind a very slow 4-some for much of the round- that's always frustrating. Some interesting holes and greens in good shape given the time of year. Would go again during the early season.

Hits the spot for midwinter golf in NJ!
This is my go to course for midwinter play, since my Morris County home course is still closed. With that in mind, the (small in size) greens were typically slow for dormant grass but fine enough for me to have 7 one putts. Fairways decent considering time of year and unavoidable wetness from melted snow. Tee boxes “below par”, as several were closed, and temp tees were not good (too wet and uneven with uncut grass). Pace was fine until we got to 17th green and saw two guys who appeared out of nowhere, they clearly jumped ahead and lied about it…added ten min to the end of a late afternoon as it got colder and darker.
All in all, if you want to walk a friendly course for walking, and get the rust off your swing preseason, this works fine.

Worth a round
Course was decent overall. Greens in good shape. A few rough spots on some fairways. Good value weekdays in the off season.

Good find
Played here six times in the past year, course is always in good shape. A couple of areas with GUR but that’s to be expected in December. Greens in great shape, and real sand in the bunkers, not dirt and mud.

Not my favorite course, BUT........
I have not played here in several years because it has not been a favorite. But I was able to get a tee time on a good weather day in Late December so why not play. To my surprise the course was in good shape, There were a few temporary tee boxes but that is to be expected in December. The fairways and tee boxes were in good shape, but the greens stole the show as they were in excellent shape. They rolled true with good speed for mid -summer greens so in December it quite the unexpected pleasure.
I will come back to play it again.
I was afraid to read after reading the title, but I guess I am glad we surprised you! Maybe next time we can become a favorite course, we will try! Thanks
