Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

The greens where great and true
The golf carts too dirty and worn out, I was a member there back in the late 70 and I wanted
to show the other guys a great time. They all felt that for money it would be better !!

Course is in great shape
Perfect day and course is in fine shape. They need a beverage cart. Losing out on money I am sure the course needs.

Just a fyi, we have tried the beverage cart service for many years and still do on occasion but without a liquor license we have never had any success. We do have beverages inside the Pro Shop.

A good walk only somewhat spoiled
Generally narrow fairways and landing zones and small, bunkered greens are what helps protect this course's difficulty. Few water hazards and forced carries decrease the difficulty level. Didn't think teeing it up from the tips was the challenge it should be. Hitting into small greens reminded me of playing on an executive course (not in a good way though). Greens and overall course in good shape. Minimal amenities in clubhouse. Played early and pace of play was good. Very walkable. For those who care, can confirm that masks were not part of the staff's wardrobe inside the clubhouse even though there's a sign that says anyone who enters needs to wear one--I guess the protective glass at the desk is good enough.

Great Layout
Good mix of challenges. Nice layout. Senior rate would have been comparable to other courses in the area. Not a fan of preparing because of constant change of weather. Staff very accommodating. It is definitely an area course in our rotation

Greens
How are the putting greens? Have they been aerated recently, if so are they difficult to putt on at the moment? Thanks.
James, the greens were aerated just over a week ago. The holes are filling in nicely and from my view, the ball is rolling as you would want and not bouncing. If easier please call to discuss. Thanks
