About
Mattawang Golf Club has changed very little since it first opened in 1960. The traditional layout has withstood the test of time as a challenging but playable layout. The course was designed to blend seamlessly into the natural setting while still testing your shot-making skills. You won’t find any man-made water hazards or artificial mounding on this golf course, instead you’ll be challenged by natural streams and ponds and mature evergreens. At first glance, the layout is seemingly wide open, but don’t let your guard down because the fairways are actually quite tight and many of them are strategically lined with trees. In keeping with the time it was built, the greens are smaller than those you would find on most modern golf courses and heavily protected by sand traps. Over the years, Mattawang Golf Club has built a reputation for having some of the well maintained putting surfaces in the area.

Excellent pace of play today (walked 3 1/2 hrs). The course was in very good condition.
Going home!
I grew up playing this course as a young player! Had not been on the property in 40 years and this return to my original home course was terrific! The conditions were great as the greens were in great shape. The same routing only changed by the growth of the trees, and my memories! Great value as well.
Will return this season for another walk down memory lane!

Outstanding Course & Value
With my club (Hamilton Farm) opening on 4/15, I was in the area on business, & had a free 1/2 day. When I saw the cost of $38 my expectations weren't much. However, I was very pleasantly surprised!! What a great golf course!! Beautifully maintained tee boxes, fairways, & greens, as well as a very challenging layout. Played it from 6,800+ yards, & this course is all you want. Smallish style greens, but they rolled beautifully, & were very fast!! What an Incredible value - and a well kept secret. Anyone who enjoys golf will absolutely love this course. I highly recommend it!!

Good condition
As usual, it was in very good condition. First time that I experienced the course getting a little backed up, but usually it's a 4 hour round.

course is in good condition. but i thought i got hot deal using golfnow that included cart. when i went to the course they denied and charged me extra.
Per our conversation that day. All our tee times over the winter have been booked as 'walking only' with the opportunity to add the cart when you get to the club. This was very clear in your booking. We did not deny you a cart you paid for, we simply charged you for the cart.

excellent golf course..The 30 mph winds wss the only damper to today's outing. The staff are very friendly and we had a great experience...

One of the Best Values
I am not sure why this course is not fully overbooked. Third time playing this year, as expected conditions getting better and better each time. Staff is friendly and accommodating,. Pace of play started slow yesterday, but ranger/starter was right on it. Got the groups to move and played in a little over 4 hours with our whole group walking. The greens are a tad furry and on slow side. However that is most likely due to time of the season and weather. The WHITE tees are a good challenge. There is enough distance and challenge. Its too bad this so far from our homes, they would have a dozen more golfing members if closer.

The greens did begin to get some growth on Friday but they will be cutting again daily now. Hope you will be back to play us all season! Enjoy
Simple layout
Simple layout, small greens make it the challenge though. Not going to really pressure your game tee to green but definitely some tee shots you have to play smart. Greens were slow this time of year but rolled nicely.

I notice all your reviews are for courses in the winter months in New Jersey. I think you will find courses to be much nicer after early April.
