Mays Landing Golf Club
About
Former president of the PGA of America, Leo Fraser, designed the 18-hole public course at the Mays Landing Golf Club with both advanced and beginning golfers in mind. Touted as the "best birdie for the buck," the Mays Landing golf course provides a great value for all golfers. The course was meticulously designed over 175 acres of beautiful pineland with scenic tree-lined fairways.
Mays Landing Golf Club provides an experience similar to one at a private country club with its excellent service and amenities including a pro shop, restaurant, and PGA instructors on site. On hot days they even have cool towels for you and they always have roaming beverage carts. The course is 6,633 yards at the longest tees, playing to a par of 72.

no care
its obvious that the grounds keeper needs to be replaced for a course to be in this bad shape from tee boxes and greens especially the front 9 is just shameless
I will never return here to play and will tell my friends to stay away. very unhappy with my experience here.
Rain kills
This course must have taken 2 or 3 days of heavy rain. Greens had no grass to speak of, mostly mud. Greens washed out. Layout was nice but weather made it unplayable.
OK Course & Great Staff
An early fall round found some greens recently aerated, but smooth. Nines have been switched around so GPS readings are confusing. Many holes have character & generous fairways.
Entire staff goes out-of-way to please & the bar is relaxing with very good food.
inexpensive green fees
the course is not in good shape. not much grass in the fairways. the greens have dirt spots. many of the tee boxes are only crab grass and the traps need sand. the good thing for me is that i can play golf inexpensively as he doesn't have a lot of money and loves golf.
bad condition
greens are burnt and terrible, fairways are crab grass if you can find a lump to put your ball on. don't waste your money!!
Great time?
Everything was great! I love that course. The people are fantastic. Thank you!
Ladies hit n sip clinic
I tried the Ladies Night “Sip n Hit Clinic”. My first impression was excellent that staff greeted me immediately and helped grab my bag. The event was really fun and the pro pga instructor made me feel comfortable with all my questions and was very patient. Afterwards, the drink and food inside the grille room was absolutely DELICIOUS ... their cook is amazing. The course itself needed a little help but during this rainy season... it was not any different than most in the area.
Too me...personal attention and friendly staff overlooked any flaws. Plus.. the price point is great!
Will be returning!
Stay Home.......Municipal Course at best
What course are you people rating..This should be considered a cow pasture that id now a municipal course. Whoever said the fairways need water that is laughable. You cant water dirt and crabgrass and expect fairway grass to grow. You have a better chance of seeing a unicorn and leprechaun dancing then youbare to see fairway grass. I was hoping some of the reviews were wrong as it was my first time playing but it was a disgrace. Save your money and play somewhere else or go to work. I do not feel bad for writing this because they didnt feel bad for their prices and taking people's money
The greens are well kept.
Though the fairway grass need watering the greens are well manicured!!!
Tired of waiting
The course should enforce its policy about no groups larger than a foursome. A ranger had the opportunity to do so but seemingly did not as we were stuck behind them until we had to tell the group we were playing through. We then heard complaints from another group of golfers that they were frustrated as well.
This is normally a very fun course to play. I’ve played a few times in the past and had a great time. Today however, I was shocked when we saw how the fairways and sand traps were full of weeds. There a quite a few hazards that were over grown when they should just be sand with large patches of fescue. I played earlier in the summer and the course was in phenomenal shape. Today was a real let down. The people at he course couldn’t have been nicer though. If they can get fairways back to normal I will gladly play here again.
Very disappointed
I’ve heard and read about this for many years. And I couldn’t wait to finally play it .When we got there the starter an girl at the desk was so very nice. But the Ranger was the one that was awesome , an old timer that had a lot of personality. Couldn’t have been nicer I wish I could say the same about the course ! The courses at one time was one of tthe best in the area but they let it go to ,there was not one nice thing I can say. About the course itself Well The greens Were In pretty good shape but that was it . I’m really sorry I have to do this review but it’s the truth !
Great Course, Rough Fairways
The course was great, and it was definitely challenging to hit fairways with how tight the tree-lines. To offer a little criticism as to what would really elevate it into a really nice course, they need to:
- Cut and roll the greens more often
- Work on the fairways a bit (consistently patchy)
- Put some new sand in the bunkers
*I understand its been quite rainy, how long it can take, and how costly it can be to repair these issues*
Horrible conditions
AVOID THIS COURSE!
This course had the worst conditions I have ever seen. Tee boxes are uneven and full of crab grass. Fairways even worse. Crab grass and other weeds everywhere, The bunkers were a complete joke. Barely any sand and full of rocks. Some looked like lagoons due to recent rain. The only saving grace was the greens were average although on one green it appeared they actually watered after several days of rain. It was so wet that it was actually close to unputtable. My playing partners even suggested just taking a two putt and walking off. I didn’t see one worker on the course the entire day!
A little confusing
I think the course was okay but my gps did not pick up the newer course desing, some of the holes were changed , i dont know whether it was thiscyear or not , but it was hot and confusing and i only played nine holes because together with the heat and humidity , it was too much. They also did not have a beverage cart that we could see, because it never came rround. Ill bring my own drinks for such a hot day. A little diapointing, but the heat didnt help things.
Great course for the money
For the last five years, we play this course every year on our way to Atlantic City and it has never disappointed us. From the friendly staff, to the delicious food in the clubhouse, to the great price, this course is perfect for us. We are definitely not pros, more like weekend hackers with ~12-18 handicaps, so this course is perfect. It is always in good condition, the fairways were nice and the greens were consistent.
We will definitely continue to hit this course each year, I just wish that I had as nice a course for this reasonable a price closer to home.
