Harkers Hollow Golf Club

About
Nestled in the hills of Scotts Mountain, Harkers Hollow Golf Club was carved from a sloping hillside, giving it a challenging terrain with plenty of elevation changes. Opened in 1929, the golf course has a classic layout designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA of America. Although it is a seemingly mild 6,551 yards from the back tees, the course plays much longer and harder thanks to the undulating terrain. The layout does offer a few lengthy holes as well as some interesting par 3s. The greens are small and fast with breaks ranging from subtle to dramatic. There is hardly any water but the Lopatcong Creek does run the entire length of the golf course and requires the occasional carry. The par-3 fifth hole is the club's signature. It is particularly notable for its scenery, which is why it has served as the backdrop for many weddings.

Much better every year
The fairways in the greens were very nice. Some of the tea boxes weren’t the best and also the areas driving from the tea to the fairways are terrible shake your kidneys.
Just the Right Balance
The course was in great shape. Challenging but not not to difficult to enjoy. I will be back
Whiny brats working in pro shop
I dealt with such an immature employee today. Dude started giving me attitude just for asking if the range was open and whatever else was going on. Really a shame.
Ranger Danger
The course was well kept and allowed us to rent an extra cart for two non players to spend time with us for a weekend round but this must not have been communicated to the ranger who proceeded to follow us for the first 6 holes and asked us to speed it up not once not twice but five times in total despite the fact there was another four in front of us that required us to wait. The round was under the requested pace but the continued requests from this ranger were unwarranted.
Harkers Hallow
Played this course because of a deal for a single. When I arrived at the course it was very pleasant. I checked in and had to use the restroom. The locker room looked like it was from the 70s green felt lined the tops of the lockers. I went back to the shop to get a bag of balls for the range. It was a 5 minute cart ride alone to get to the range. I didn't even get through half the bag before I had to drive back another 5 minutes for my tee time. The carts were absolutely awful and the drive there an back was terrible. All the cart paths on the course were terrible you really need an ATV to traverse the cart paths. The course it's self was decent. I looked up what the full price is of playing Harkers and at 75 dollars it's absolutely not worth it, even the deal price wasn't worth it. Definitely will not play this course again.
Feels like a private club
The owners have done a remarkable job in restoring not just the golf course, but also the atmosphere of the entire club. The driving range is beautiful (though on an incline). The historic locker room dates back nearly a century. The restaurant/upstairs outdoor patio area has been filled with people, can't wait to get a meal and some beverages next time. Play the lovely par-3 9th hole along the creek, then take a seat in the shade by the snack shack which is my favorite spot on the course. I will be back for many rounds.
Super fun time!
This was my first time playing this course and I was scared to see if it would be any good. But I was pleasantly surprised. Well maintained fairways, clean tee box’s and greens, friendly staff, and beautiful course layout. Overall I loved my time at the course!
Great track
Played with 3 locals, was told the course is getting to be better shape. Sand trap is bare and dirt and paved cart path is very bumpy. Overall good track layout with slopped greens. For what I’ve paid, it’s still a great course to come back to.
Played on Fathers Day despite the rain
First, I was impressed with the matter-of-factness in the staff and veteran players like any other day despite heavy rains leading up to the day and rainy and wet day of. No delays, no "cart path" only. Course is well laid out and obviously drains well. It rained the whole front nine and half the back nine and there were only a few wet spots (puddles) on entire course. Tees and greens excellent condition as were the fairways. Definitely coming back!
Harkers Hollow
The actual price was $7 higher than what was advertised on Golfnow. The fairways are ok, the greens were in pretty good shape,, but it's about time to put some money in to the cart paths, which are horrible. Got done with.my early round at 11, only to find out the bar and grill wouldn't open for another half hour so we went elsewhere.
