About
River Vale Country Club (formerly known as Bergen Hills Country Club.) sprawls across the gently rolling hills of northeast New Jersey. It has been ranked on Golf Digest's list of "Best Places to Play," but it still manages to remain one of Bergen County's most well kept secrets. You'll hardly ever run into crowds on this golf course. The layout has a classic design that incorporates a variety of elevation changes. Tricky uphill and downhill lies will be your biggest challenge on this layout. Strategically placed bunkers lurk beside the greensides and there are several holes where water hazards come into play, including the par-5 fifth, which has a lake on either side of the green. River Vale a tight golf course that demands accuracy and while it's not overly formidable, your skills will definitely be put to the test.

Beautiful place
Cold but sunny. Recently aerated greens. However, an amazing layout fun but challenging. Can only imagine what this place looks like in the prime of the season. Can’t wait to go back.

Lovely track good variety of holes always in great condition, definitely the best in the area
Excellent condition considering it's fall
Course is consistently well maintained. I always enjoy playing a round here. Green fee is on the high side so the Hot Deal opportunities are great. This particular day the playing pace was extremely slow. At one point we were 18 minutes behind with another some in-front of us and the hole ahead but didn't see any ranger managing the pace throughout our rounding.

Great Day of Golf
Excellent Day! Great course layout. Nice range chipping and putting area. Greens were aerated, but that was disclosed upfront which was appreciated. Very enjoyable round on a stellar layout. Pace of play was 4hrs 30 min.

Fun to play this course
Good option if you can't get a time on the bergen county municipals
Could not get a tee time on the municipal courses and with the exception of Darlington and Soldier Hill the munis are not worth the time or money at this time of the year. Bad Shape. We were lucky and got a 1040 here
. I've played here 6 times before but it has never been in as good a shape as it is now. Fairways and greens are pristine, traps are in good shape. Challenging course I shoot mid 80's at my regular course and this had some extra length but fair except the par 5 13th. You hit a blind shot over the weeds to find the fairway a little right and you are out of bounds could be set up better with the tee box back a little and off the right. All in all a very enjoyable round even at $125

Fun course….Definitely need to play more than once due to learning it’s flow……will play again very soon
Course was in great shape..only downside was the pace of play the group in front of us had an entire hole open it would be nice for a ranger to speed up the pace.
