Spooky Brook Golf Course in Somerset is a player-friendly course that is perfect for beginners. It offers just enough of a challenge but it still allows you some room for error. At 6,655 yards from the back tees, the golf course is relatively short but the greens, tees, and fairways offer plenty of room. The mostly flat terrain makes for an enjoyable walk and it's also wide open. While the golf course may not be the most formidable test, it does have a few challenges in store. Water has a presence throughout the course, especially on the back nine. Whether or not you are looking to hone your skills or if you want a casual round, the well maintained golf course appeals to any skill level. In addition to the course, Spooky Brook G.C. also has a driving range that you can use to warm-up.

Spooky Brook is a well maintained public course
Somerset County public courses are usually well maintained but Spooky Brooks fairways and greens are exceptional. The holes play moderate given the wide open fairways and forgiveness when you slice/hook into the rough. The ability to find your ball when you miss the fairway is nice compared to some other courses. Bunkers are well kept with soft sand and no debris that would scuff your wedges (i.e. pebbles/rocks). Overall, would recommend to anyone in the area to play Spooky Brook.

The friendly staff and the condition of Green and Fairway are above average.
Great Conditions
Course played at a great pace and was in exceptional shape. Greens rolled as true as you can get . Will definitely play there again this season.
Low stress golf course
Course was in pretty good shape with the exception of a few tee boxes which were a little beat up. A little container of dirt/grass seed on at least the par 3's would help--I noticed Quail Brook doesn't have it either. No water coolers on the course and nary a cart girl in sight today.
As others have noted it's a relatively easy, flat/walkable course with mostly wide fairways and few challenges off the tee. Few forced carries for either your tee or approach shot. Minimal water in play. Average-sized greens with most having at least one greenside bunker set up to swallow up any wayward, short approach shots. Played Quail Brook last week and both courses were set up shorter and easier than I would think would be normal (played from the blue tees)--probably to help pace-of-play. It all added up to two of my lowest rounds of the year so far.
