Quick pace. Kept greens.
Friend and I played a Thursday afternoon and finished the front nine in 90 minutes. Nobody in front and nobody behind. Long course but wide open. Rough and fairways pretty firm so ball ran. Greens rolled nicely. Seems like it was pretty slow but the course was in good shape and played average in difficulty.
great course, fast play
Course was in great shape, less than four hours for a threesome, flat and easy to walk
Good course for starters!!
This is a good course for starters. It is fairly open but still has its challenges. I am a Somerset county member so was surprised that I was charged more by GolfNow. The staff at the course helped me to get a discount. Other than that, the course is good for the value.
Spooky Brook
Course in great shape. Greens not fast but true.
Mid afternoon not very crowded. 3 1/2 round.
Well worth the ride from Staten Island. Off on
T-time!!! Very nice On-Line rate.
For a county course - EXCELLENT!
Booked up thru Golfnow.com the night before. Played this course 4 years ago and was a little worried. No need to worry. The staff, the course and everything was great. I could not believe the speed of play - 3 1/2 hours for a foursome. I played with my son and hooked up with 2 great guys from Staten Island. Had a great time for 35 bucks!
Nice course
The course is long and flat, but has some interesting holes.
Good value and well maintained for a county course.
A golf course for all levels!
Spooky Brook has a little something for all golfers--open fairways for the beginner/intermediate, sand bunkers to challenge everyone, a water hole and a few par 5's for even the experienced golfer. The country, farm-like setting adds to the pastoral enjoyment. Nature abounds with local deer and red-wing blackbirds. Greens are well-maintained and challenging.
A great place to play golf
Played this course with my dad and brother on Father's Day. Really nice practice green that was also good for chipping. The driving range looked good as well. We were able to get on without a problem. Liked how wide open the course was. Really well manicured but still challenging. We had a group ahead of us that was a little slow but the course and the weather were so beautiful that we honestly didn't mind. I highly recommend Spooky Brook and look forward to playing again soon.
spooky brook
Very good value. ..will play multiple times again. In good condition and greens roll true.
Confidence booster
This course is so wide open! If you need a confidence booster in your golf game, then definitely play this course!
A fun time but Spooky is not too spooky
I know it was just a name but I was expecting some crazy holes. Although some holes seemed longer than the scorecard dictated, it was a relatively straightforward course. Nontheless, it was a nice course and a good confidence builder for the long hitter.
Great Easy Course
Great course, mostly flat and accommodating fairways with wide roughs and not much fescue to lose balls into. Greens roll very true when they're not healing from aerations and can be challenging depending on where the holes are cut.
A backyard
Like a yard - generally poor design. Greens has been aerated - and easily the worst aerated greens I have played in. The course in general felt like a backyard - a couple of holes like the 17th and another par 3 were nice - but apart from that - course wasn't pretty .. definitely not going again.
Wide Open
Very nice course, wide open, not a lot of trees. Ground seemed really hard though. high shots hitting the green did not leave a ball mark so the ball would roll a lot further than normal. Could be lack of rain recently. Greens are fast, I would definitely play here again!
I just like this course!
There are some tracks you just take a shine too. For whatever reason, that's Spooky Brook. It's open and wide, and just a whole lot of fun.
Great for the novice, and some tiered greens and longish Par 4s that will test the low handicapper. Staff is accomodating and friendly. Pace of play has been absolutely stellar the last two rounds (I should probably tell you all the exact opposite, so I can keep playing my sub-four rounds).
OK, my only pidding suggestion -- make drinking water more available.
Beyond that, this is a great little treat of a course.
Good course, very good shape and not a lot of lost balls.
This is a nice course that has challenges but is friendly to a new golfer. The front 9 is very open so you can build some confidence and most of the back 9 is as well with a few holes that will challenge players that have trouble staying straight off the tee but even those aren't brutal just a nice challenge. I have been there twice in the past month and both times had no issue with pace of play or the employees (much friendlier than some reviews I have seen).
The course is wide open and forgiving.
Wide open fairways are great for us since we're not down the middle every tee shoot. The rough wasn't to bad, you were able to find your ball in it, which speeds up the round. The course is fairly flat so you could definitely walk it if you wanted to. It's a great course!
