About
Quail Brook Golf Course in Somerset is one of central New Jersey's top public courses. The challenging design is a favorite amongst local golfers. The layout has a diverse mix of holes, some of which are spacious and wide-open and others that are rolling and tight. Although the golf course may seem short at 6,630 yards from the back tees, don't be fooled by the yardage. The course can feel much longer thanks to the hilly terrain. The front nine has subtler undulations while the back nine is dramatically hilly, which makes it a tough course to walk. Quail Brook Golf Course's undulating fairways lead to challenging sloped greens that are framed with strategically placed bunkers. There aren't too many opportunities for driving, but your short game will definitely get a workout.

Course condition
Course was in very good shape for this time of year.
Great layout and always in great shape.
I have played this course over 50 times and it has yet to disappoint
Bombers Delight
A lot of wide open fairways. Grip it and rip it. Fairways and greens were in very good condition. I got the hot deal from GolfNow and it is a great value. Played the gold tees. I am looking forward to playing it again.
Finally played this - didn't disappoint
All aspects f the course were great. Great greens and better than average fairways. Only thing that could be better is signage in some holes.
Fun and challenging
The course condition was fairly good. The tee box was not maintained well but the green condition was fair and quick. The course was moderately challenging which fit my skills and required thinking around the course. There were a lot of uphill tee shots on the back 9 which made the course more difficult. Each hole had its distinct features which made it fun to play throughout the round. I will go again for sure.
Excellent opportunity to work on short irons...
Short, and sometimes tight. Great opportunity to work on hitting fairways and approach irons. Course requires more strategic approach, particulary the par 5s. Greens well-maintained for a county course. Really pleased with the friendly staff. Onlty drawback might be that more beginners play the course and can potentially slow the pace. That said, would play again for sure.
A basically positive experience, with a few negatives.
The course was well maintained and clean. The starter was very helpful and accommodating. Be careful of an afternoon tee time - Look at the course web site to see when leagues play. They had a league that started on hole ten at 4pm, forcing us to play holes 1-9 twice rather than waiting behind several foursomes at the turn. Our tee time got us through the first nine at 4:15, so we had a choice of waiting, or playing the front again. The course had water on the course - but in a cooler, sold on the honor system - I think water should be provided.
Decent for the Hot Deal Price
Course is a little chewed up, especially the tee boxes. Course is a mix of challenging holes that have minimal room to miss, and others that can be had very easily. Get it for the cheap price, and it's worth a go.
Excellent for County course
Exceptional conditions. Good design. Some holes were repetitive. Many interesting greens. Very hot weather. Virtually
no one else on course.
Great course
Had a great time at the course! Was paired with great people and enjoyed a good round! Would recommend it to anyone!
Nice course
Relatively easy course, but very few people on for a Saturday in June. Never ran into anyone in front or behind us. I would recommend this for any skill level of golfer.
Great golf course
Nice layout and is in great shape for a county course. Grass driving range is a plus.
Overall good round
Greens were quick, course was in decent shape for being somewhat early in the season. Great layout.
Sloping Greena
Decent shape for a municipal course. Very few straight putts. Not a bad value.
Good for time of year
Considering how bad the weather had been leading up to the courses opening, I thought Quail Brook was in exceptionally good shape. Greens were tough to get a read on...some real fast...some real slow. Fairways and rough were in good shape though. Course is clearly well taken care of. Not an overly difficult course....pretty flat. Good course to work on your game with. Definitely worth it for the price I got through Golfnow.
