Quail Brook Golf Course
About
Quail Brook Golf Course in Somerset is one of central New Jersey's top public courses. The challenging design is a favorite amongst local golfers. The layout has a diverse mix of holes, some of which are spacious and wide-open and others that are rolling and tight. Although the golf course may seem short at 6,630 yards from the back tees, don't be fooled by the yardage. The course can feel much longer thanks to the hilly terrain. The front nine has subtler undulations while the back nine is dramatically hilly, which makes it a tough course to walk. Quail Brook Golf Course's undulating fairways lead to challenging sloped greens that are framed with strategically placed bunkers. There aren't too many opportunities for driving, but your short game will definitely get a workout.

Don't play here if using golf now
The counter people at this course have a real issue with golf now customers. We as a group were treated with complete disrespect from the time we walked into the culb house.
The course was empty no one was on the 1 st tee, the starter allowed us to tee off, but the club house counter person ran out and stopped us from teeing off because our start time wasn't for another 15 minutes. When we went in to register this individual was literally yelling at us. I'll never play here again.
Thank you, K. Scully
Solid course
Very clean, very green. Thought the setup of the holes was good. The lack of food or drink at the course was the only disappointment.
Nice Track
This is a very nice track. Every hole had a different look and different challenge. Bunkers in effect, greens well kept and the rough was tricky.
Short & Challenging
It's not a long course. But it's a crafty one. Plenty of fun with lots of different looks at inviting approaches. Hard to imagine getting through a round without landing in a bunker, but the sand is really clean and soft. The rest is green, very firm. Slow greens, but they were aerated recently. Finished in under (4) hours. I'll be back.
awesome deal for an awesome course
Im a new golfer and very happy with the course. Not too hard not too easy...couple great holes that i can grip it and rip it. I would definitely come back.
Just a county course
Folks lets's not get carried away. Anyone who gives this 5 stars probably has never played another course. 5 stars are Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes, etc. 2 stars is more than generous for this course. Nothing special, just a county course that gets a lot of play. I've played it many times in a golf league, but avoid it when I want to play real golf.
Ok
Not a very well maintained course. Short course as well. Definitely not worth what they charge you in the club house but I got it for $30 including cart from golfnow which was a fair price, only because the course isn't that great. Easy course.
Greens were airaited when I played and the greens were in terrible condition, barely puttable. But that didn't factor into my review.
Great value. Great afternoon.
Course was almost empty on a windy late October afternoon. The starter and all the staff were very nice and friendly. The greens had been aerated 9 days earlier, but otherwise the course was fun and in good shape. I will be back.
Course is easy and short
I had my lowest ever today - shot a 77 with aerated greens that weren't very pleasant at all!
Tight fairways. Friendly personnel.
Recommend this golf course. Back nine is a long walk. Course in good condition
Slow play
Course is in good condition. Moderately challenging. Hope they would have rangers to speed up the play. Also wish the clubhouse would have some snacks/drinks.
In great shape
Greens were in great shape ..... Course is a good test ,
aeration begins on Oct 20th
Somerset county golf
Best greens I play all year. Best bang for your buck. Staff super friendly. Get there before winter sets in.
Staff is not friendly

Green: front 9 and back 9, Speed is different
Great Thinking course
Quailbrook is an excellent moderately challenging course from the back tee's. If you are looking for Tight fairways and a thinking course I would highly recommend a round here. The tight rolling fairways with strategically placed bunkers will make you think twice on how best to manage the course... pulling out the long irons are a great first thought for many of the holes.
Fun sporty course
Nice traditional layout. Not a lot of trouble. Greens are in great shape but don't give an inch. Expect to get a lot of roll on your approach shots. Course is starting to dry out a bit so anything headed for the rough has a good chance of rolling into the brush. Nice touch that they place water bottles in coolers on the course. came in handy as the day was a scorcher.
Really Fast Greens
Play twice a week just about everywhere. These greens (cup cut about 10 feet from edge on each) were the fastest my son and I have played in two years. Otherwise, course in tip top condition and look forward to playing it again. I was pleasantly surprised to find the sand traps were done on a Monday and the cups freshly cut. (always play on Monday) THIS is my biggest complaint on ANY COURSE.
The right mix of fun and challenging
This is an excellent public course. I like it because it is challenging (the pin placements can be really tricky and the greens fast) but it is fun and the pace of play was great. We finished in 4 hours and 10 minutes on a busy summer Saturday.
I do recommend you ride for 18 holes. The first nine are an easy walk but the back nine is on the other side of the road and so the walk/ride is much longer between holes. However, if you really like to walk ask the locals for the shortcuts.
The staff is great and very friendly and welcoming to women. The head pro is Mike Havay. I took lessons from Mike before I ever played the course, and he is a great golf teacher.
It is a great price. My friend and I were paired with a Pro from Conn. (he as visiting friends in NJ) and he said the fee was really fair given the wonderful condition of the course. If you have a county card the value is even better!
