Golfer Reviews
Wet n slow
Course was wet, cart path only. Tee shots were plugging in the fairways. Pace of play was slow, almost took 5 hours. Greens were very slow. A lot of the ball washers had no water or no towels. Course is usually in much better condition when dry.
Day after heavy rain
To all who play: I was surprised to find only a couple holes affect by torrential rain the night before. I though this course was very scoreable with a decent round and greens where in great shape for the end of Season. Enjoy a round at spook rock
Spook rock
Course was in fabulous condition in spite of all the recent rain. Pace of play was great. Spacing of players was perfect even with foursomes and twosome playing. Price including lunch was an added bonus!
Nice and challenging layout
Great course at a great "hot deal" price on a Sunday afternoon
Still Solid
Hadn’t played Spook in 4 years. Played it quite a bit many years ago. Still a really good track and given the weather challenges this summer and recent rainfall it was in very good shape. Definitely worth going back this fall when it dries out and they can roll the greens. Only knock was they let a mini outing out early and they were late making the turn which delayed tee times. All in all a solid golf course that is well maintained.
Great Course
Often heard this was a nice course and it didn’t disappoint. Long par 3s but very makeable 5s. Water is not a major factor but fairway bunkers make for the challenge. High quality tee boxes, fairways and greens. Some tricky breaks on the greens. My pace of play was exceptional, just over 4 hours. Guys I played with said it’s usually much slower on the weekend. Beverage cart makes the rounds. Nice looking cafe.
Great condition and layout
I played this course 2x this year. Before this season, I played about 10 years ago. Condition got much better. However, the pace of play was not the best. I did not see any ranger helping with the pace. Otherwise, had a great day. Very friendly staff. Will play again as long as I get a discount through GolfNow. Regular fee for out of towner is too expensive.
Maybe my favorite
I have been playing this course since the middle 70s when it cost 14.50 to walk if you are from out of state . Those days are long behind us That is Why it’s the first time I’m playing the course this late in the season . Just one of my favorite courses and has been for a long time
Excellent course!
I used to play this course frequently but only occasionally now. It's a very good layout and lots of fun. Nice staff.
Very nice layout
Play twice a year, very nice layout, superintendent and crew do great job of keeping course in very good shape, playing early is ideal if you want to play in 4 hours or less, mid day and on play is slow due to no inforching of pace of play but that you will fine at all public course in this day of age. My biggest gripe is pace of play is very important to keeping people coming back. It’s amazing how you feel playing in 4 hours as conpared to 4 1/2.
It doesn't get...
...much better than this for public golf. Great layout. Great conditions throughout. This is a must play.
bait and switch
Booked this course for $54 x 4 players 7/3/18 for the 4th at 12 noon. . When I arrived to check in they wanted to charge me $96. The young man behind the counted said my reservation was a mistake and would not honor the booking from golf now. I told him to cancel all 4 and we walked. We played another course an hour later.
