Silo Run Golf Course

About
Tucked away in foothills in the northwestern part of the state, Silo Run Golf Course in Boonville overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pilot Mountain. Stretching across rolling terrain that used to be a dairy farm, the course gets its name from the two large silos that are the only enduring remnants of the land's former use. The towering structures are the first thing you'll see as you're driving in. The challenging golf course features a variety of water hazards coming into play and several strategically placed bunkers along the greensides and fairways. You'll also have to face elevation changes of up to 100 feet. Silo Run is a golf course that will challenge even low handicappers but players of any skill level will be able to appreciate the idyllic scenery and stunning views.

Nice for the price
Played a nice 3 hour round of golf. Course played fast, but fair. Will go back.
lots of blind shots
Course is a great deal for the money. Over 7000 yards from the back tees so it's long enough to use your driver but some holes should be thought out before grabbing the the big stick. The pace of play was a little slow but that was expected for a Sunday. All and all it was a fun time.
Website statements need to be updated or erased
We travelled over 2 hours to play here based on the statements that were presented by the Silo Run website. The cart paths are not anywhere near new... in fact I don't think they have ever been re-paved since opening the course in 1995. The golf carts are not new either. And the tee boxes are certainly not new... unless of course we have invented a new strain of weed. The website is very misleading, but the weather made up for it in just getting outdoors.
Nice Get-A-Way!
Silo Run gets it's name from a couple of silo's you aim for on No. 18.
For fall conditions this course was in nice shape. The Bermuda has turned brown; however, the greens were in good shape. The course is challenging enough for a variety of club selections, yet it is not too hard for a weekend hacker. The location is very restful and peaceful. A big plus is a view of Pilot Mountain. The par 3's are all different and fun to play. My recommendation is to spend a night in Yadkinville or Elkin and play this course one day and Cedar Brook the next.
will return
Great course, challenging holes, nice price, The cart has a book that gives you a picture of each hole with distance, and tips as to the best way to play the hole. You must play this course!
great value
Excellent course, better value! A bit of a trip but worth every minute. Great greens, well maintained, friendly folks and unbelievable value!
Pleaseant suprise.
A mix of wide open fairways, and tight tree lined holes. Greens where ok, not super fast but true.
This was a joke.
After playing golf for 30 years...finally played the worse course ever. This was a joke, "Gooney Golf" at it's worse. Back nine was straight up or straight down, with no idea where the ball was going to end up. Lost more balls then a in a round of my beginner years. Tight lies on Hard-Pan soil, no grass in the fairways, it was probably eaten by cows and goats. Could not get an iron under the ball to lift it up...honestly thought about teeing up my second shots.
Good hole layout
Enjoyed playing this course greens and fairways well maintained. Fair price and staff friendly. Will play this course again and again the staff is helpful.
Making course improvements but missing the small things
The course had no water in the coolers or the ball washers and very few ball washer were on the course they had cleaned up and opened the course for a better view course looked nice. Burger I got was precooked and was cold. Everything else was good for the price.
Great Value
Great outing at a great price. The greens were in perfect shape. Staff is friendly and helpful. We will go back again soon
silo run course
Got a golf now deal for 10 bucks couldn't pass it up. Had golfed there before and this time was no different. Just a good farm golf course. Course plays long on a few holes. Would golf it again for 10 bucks!!!!
blind tee shots all over
#3,11,12,are kind bad holes,,but rest of course is good, greens are true and can get fast some times.staff super nice.course takes driver out of your hand alot.
Quick greens & blind tee shots
3 putted several greens, blind tee shots on many holes that I would play differently second time around. It's still early and weather has been crazy lately so course condition was hard to fairly evaluate.
recomended
played the course in the past wasn't impressed but its looking good now owners are making improvements great deal for the money highly recomended
Out of the way, but worth the drive...
Very nice course. Don't let the "this is a cow pasture" thoughts you might get on the first hole seep in too much, you'll soon find out that this is a beautifully laid out course with lots of varying elevations.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course and if not for the drive, over an hour for me, I would be content to play this course quite often.
Only real negative I found: No logo balls. Come on man...
Good course, Good Value
Fun course to play, good variety of holes. Pace of play was very good for a busy Sunday morning (4 hrs) I would play it again
Fun, challenging course!
Love the course layout booklet given in the carts and the tips on how to play each hole! The guys in the club house were very nice and helpful. What a fun course to play! Very challenging, loved having to think of how to play the ball off the rolling hills! The back 9 was even more of a challenge, and although my score wasn't the greatest I had a smile on my face the whole time!
Improving under new manadement
The current staff managing and running the course efforts are showing. Great little course with a big value. Thanks guys!
nice course , good deal for the money
the greens were in goood shape , the fairways too . The only bad thiing was that they measure the par threes to the back of the green ... it was in the fine print , but who reads that . I liked the course and you should try it .
