Lochmere Golf Club
About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Great Course
Played here for the first time and enjoyed the track. The course was tight and challenging. Luckily played with a member who helped us with the layout. Greens were fantastic. Looking forward to playing again.
First time playing there
Greens were good to VG.
Fairways….not much grass….tee boxes were like concrete.
Easy to play
Pretty easy to play. Little narrow at places but mostly straight and flat. Good chats with starter and Ranger. Some tee boxes were a little hard to insert tee. Carts were fine.
Why cart path only?
Knowing that the course is subject to wet conditions when it rains, but this was not the case when we played yesterday. Maybe one or two holes had patches of wet grass, but come on, Cart path only for the whole course?
It’s Fine
It’s Lochmere. If you’ve played it, you know what to expect. It’s a good course if it hasn’t rained lately. Solid greens, simple layout, good for the general public. But as always, terribly slow.
Overpriced and overbooked.
5+ hours to play a short golf course. 3 groups on one hole at times. Tee sheet was running late. Par 3 with mats to hit tee shots from. Not worth $55.
Probably should bring.your own grass.
Course is in such a bad state with terrible fairways, sand greens, and artificial mats on one of the tee boxes, I wouldn't recommend going here for any more than 20$.
Dont bother
Please dont let the location and affordability of this golf course convince you to play. The pace of plays the worst I've seen ever in my life . The T-sheet was supposedly wide-open on the golf now app for that Monday I show up 30 minutes before my tee time to find out I have been paired but I could go early if I wanted to so I went early first two holes were great then I got behind three singles they were not made to play together and an entire golf outing in front of them.
Fairways/Tee Boxes = Rough Shape
I grew up playing Lochmere, and it’ll always have a soft spot for me, but I played it for the first time in quite a while this weekend and the tee boxes/fairways were in REALLY bad shape. I probably won’t play it again this season unless I hear that it’s dramatically improved.
Staff was great as always, the price was reasonable and I still had a great time…but the course conditions were disappointing.
Don't Play Here After It Rains
The course is completely flat and much water runs through it, so the drainage is terrible...standing water, soggy fairways, and with the grass still dormant, fairways were a mess and had no role. The greens were is good shape however, and the sand bunkers had been freshly raked smooth. Once the course has a chance to dry out, it should play better.
