Lonnie Poole Golf Course at N.C. State University was designed by Arnold Palmer with the help of N.C. State graduates Erik Larsen and Brandon Johnson. It's home to the university's men's and women's golf teams but it's open to the public as well. It's a favorite among locals who claim it's one of the toughest golf courses in the Triangle. The course sprawls across more than 200 acres on the southernmost portion of Centennial Campus, a location that is easily accessible from I-40 and offers scenic views of the Raleigh skyline. The greens can be difficult to read and they are often framed by rough
areas and strategically placed bunkers that make them even trickier. It's an especially tough golf course to play on windy days. Lonnie Poole G.C. is a beast from the black tees but the shorter tees make it accessible for high handicappers.

Home away from home.
This course never disappoints me. Even though the had just been punched still had a great time. Course conditions are always good.
Should be Top Fifty College Course!
Challenging but fare if you pick appropriate tees. Lot of bunkers so you need to be solid on your iron play and I suggest club up. I’ve played it four times and never scored well but I think I’m getting there. Can’t wait to play it again. View of downtown Raleigh is awesome off eleven tee box. Play it!
Please redo the greens
Only thing from this being the perfect course is the greens. Please switch to Bermuda. Bent grass here. Thousands of ball matks and slow. Other than that i love Lonnie Poole. Best in the area
Great Course
Amazing layout.. generous fairways, but lots of trouble. Very strategic course…lots of ways to attack or defend on each hole. Greens were a little slow in the heat of summer but we adjusted. Overall a great experience

Very much enjoyed our round even though it rained on us. Great layout, perfect conditions. Will be back again.
Picturesque Course and challenging
Make sure it’s not cart path only. Walked over 14000 steps.
A wonderful golf course
Very beautiful. Fantastic layout with rolling hills, beautiful lakes, no houses, and friendly rangers
Good Condition for Post Aeration
Greens were punched 5 days ago but they were very playable. Rest of course in excellent condition. Some sodding has been done on a few tee boxes which is nice.
Slow play and nothing but bunkers
Spent about 3.5 hrs to get through 12 holes on a midweek/midday round. The course was in decent shape but had half the tee boxes under construction. The pace was the biggest issues. We were on pace for a 5+ hr round of golf on a noon tee-time mid-week. Beyond that practice your bunker shots because this course is littered with them. There are no other obstacles so they put bunkers everywhere. I walked off the course after 12 holes because I was standing on 13 looking at two groups on the same hole ahead of me and no one cared to help w pace of play.
