Ok for price
Good course for price and time to play works for a quick game.
Greens are almost unplayable
These are the worst greens I've almost ever played on. They are essentially unplayable as they are overwhelmed by poiana and crabgrass.
Friendly staff, decently fun layout. Greens are a diseased in spots, and covered in crabgrass in others. Several tee boxes are sandboxes. Fairways are in good shape. Overall, great bang for your buck. There are definitely many worse courses in the area.
Course conditions are pretty shaky
I had a fun enough round on Monday, though the course conditions are pretty poor. The tee boxes either have long grass, or are pure dirt. The fairways are in OK shape, but the rough needs a cut. Any ball that finds the rough sinks into the bottom roots of the grass and is nearly invisible unless you are standing 2ft away. The greens are horrendous - more weeds than grass, and shaggy. I kept coming up short all round.
Fun course, greens need work.
The positives are plenty. Very fun layout, it is like you get to play two different courses on the front nine and the back nine. Staff is very friendly. Carts are great. Solid, affordable pricing.
Minor negative is that several of the tee boxes are in rough shape. Pace of play was about 30 min too slow, waiting on groups ahead.
The biggest con is the greens. They are just awful. A couple have patches with no grass at all. All of them are two different kinds of grass, partial as-expected and the other some kind of rough green weed-like mess. It didn't roll as bad as it looks, but they basically need to gut and re-do every green on the course.
Thankfully they know it and are actively starting to do just that. But for now, just know what you're in for and have fun as-is.
Public course needs HELP!
My rating was provided on the public course side. The Greens in particular need massive renovations. Renovation has been completed on the executive course. If they make the same updates to the public course, RGA would be a top location. Pace of play in the afternoon on a holiday was very slow.
course management
greens had unrepaied divots everywhere. Crabgrass or non greens grass growing on the greens roughs too deep.
Where do I start!?
The experience started with an unfriendly check-in, The drivjng range consisted of a net behind the clubhouse and a tiny patch of artificial turf. Then there was the putting green which was full of crab grass. Little did we know it was a sign of things to come. Every green was the same - full of crab grass - making it impossible to get a clean roll on any putt. The rest of the course was fairly wide open, but God save you if you hit the ball ever so slightly off the fairway as the grass was 6 inches high - making it virtually impossible to find your ball even on a great drive. Buyer beware - you get what you pay for, but in this case - it wasn’t even worth the $30.
Where is Waldo
The coourse was absolutely amazing, other than the greens. Most of the greens had pockets of weeds, if not all weeds.. The fairway was a bit long. The rough is exactly as it should be, shaggy and unforgiving. Pay attention where you land. I give this course a solis 4.2 out 5. I will come back!!!
Could be better
Lots of the tee off areas were full of sand, the greens were not very well maintained and the grass was extremely long. Could use a bit better maintenance for the price. There are courses for cheaper around that are more well maintained. Always fun to play a round tho.
Wow
Listen I knew for $50 buckets I was not expecting a great course however I was not expecting greens that were 50-70% crabgrass and other weeds. Many bare tee boxes and overgrown rough where many decent shots I couldn’t find the ball.
Terrible shape
Course is in absolutely terrible shape. Greens are overrun with weeds or completely bare. Tee boxes are dirt. Staff was very friendly but course is not worth the any form of money to play until they undergo their renovations.
Love playing here
Always have a fun time if I come out with buddies, or if I get paired up. The staff is great and can’t wait to see the new renovations!
Poorly maintained and managed
Greens are very rough with ingrowths of weeds.
Pace of play is very slow with many beginning golfers and large groups.
Players typical either don’t know or ignore the rules of play.
Carts are not allowed on holes that are perfectly dry.
Renting cart is a waste of money given the above.
Sharing carts
I have played here many times and enjoyed the course. However this time, I did not play because although I had prepaid for the cart, they wanted me to share it. That is unacceptable to me because I might not complete the full 18 holes and want to leave early. Also I do not want to catch something from an unknown person by sitting next to him for upto 5-6 hours.
They should state clearly on their website if they have such a change in policy.
I will not play there again, until I can get my own cart that I already paid for.
