Lochmere Golf Club

About
Located near the banks of Swift Creek, Lochmere Golf Club has plenty of water incorporated into the layout, coming into play on nearly every hole. The golf course stretches across a lush, gently rolling landscape sprinkled with mature trees and ponds. The terrain showcases the best in Triangle golf. At just over 6,600 yards it is not particularly long, but it provides plenty of challenges. It is a tight course that will test your accuracy with narrow fairways lined with trees. The small greens that are heavily protected by well placed bunkers demand thoughtful strategy and pinpoint control. The golf course offers a fair challenge but it is still accessible for beginners, especially from the forward tees. Lochmere G.C. is a favorite among Cary locals, both for its enjoyable design and its affordable rates.

Slow play
If you like a 5 and half hour round the swamp is for you! the only time I have played here and it wasn't absurdly slow was if it is 40 degrees and the wind is blowing. It is a nice course and the greens are in great shape but the pace of play is beyond awful. we had to bail after 9 holes. It was so bad yesterday that while we were waiting for group ahead to putt the group behind got so tired of waiting that they drove a ball 10 feet from us and once they saw that we were waiting on the group in front who was waiting on the group in front they apologized but it made for an awful experience. They won't, but if the separated the group a little more and didn't stack the course up it would be a lot more fun to play. More expensive too I know but more fun.
Nice round
Played a late afternoon round and got in 16 of 18 holes before darkness set in. Ended up going off right behind a school golf tournament, so play was pretty slow the first nine. Course was in really good condition. Greens were very firm, but putted true. I plan to play here more often.
Too wet
Following a heavy day of rain the day before this course was very very wet
Honestly it should have been closed but clearly the pro needed the green fees
Tee boxes were water logged
Relief needed to be taken from every fairway hit
Sometimes up to 60 yards to find a dry spot often in the first cut of rough
I’m sure I saw the course at its worst but even I wouldn’t play here again
Coursre does not drain well
After a rainy day the next day course was very soaked still. will not play there again if rains the day before
Charlotte, NC
The course was too wet to play and there was a golf group of about 100 before us. They should have called me and told me that the course was just to wet to play on. First time playing there I could see that it was a really good course to play under better weather conditions. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area.
Solid value
Excellent greens and staff does a great job keeping the cups clean. Nice layout for a dormant winter golf round. Overall good value.
Good course
We paid less than forty for the round so was a good deal. Course conditions were OK coming out of winter but the greens look to have been aerated recently. Will play here again for the right deal.
Eroding away
It’s true that this course gets very wet if it has rained in the past month. The runoff ditches are eroding and in about 10 years it will overtake the property. The greens are good and the course is well maintained.
Very Good Shape
Course is in great shape and greens are rolling smooth and quick.
Good course
Gets a little soggy after it rains, but still the best course open to the public in Raleigh besides lonnie poole. Decently priced and well maintained. 8/10.
Winter Golf Review
Course in good shape for Feb. Greens in great shape. Down hill down grain very fast.
Good course, Overpriced
It’s a solid course, very flat and open. Makes it easy to walk, which it seems most people take advantage of. Only thing is I do not think it is worth the price at $45 I paid. Granted, it is January so I’m sure the course conditions are typically better, but I just cannot justify spending that money on this course in particular. Would much rather play a cheaper course that would be similar in quality or just paying a bit more for a nicer course.
